I've noticed on here and elsewhere that as soon as 'Salford' is mentioned in a bad light in any capacity, it brings out a minority of RL 'fans' that just jump on our Club simply because they don't like us. Or more usually, not like MK.

Just an observation.

Nothing at all to do with the fact that this happened at my club, and will involve an investigation of the stewarding of my club and potentially a fine for my club- no it's just because it's Salford?

But wouldn't a fine for Huddersfield by merited? You make out that they're an innocent party, but the various reports I've seen suggest that poor stewarding/lack of police presence were a key contributing factor.

It's clear that the incident has been totally overblown in the press, and I've a huge amount of sympathy for the Salford club TBH. As always in these instances, the club who's 'fans' are involved get tainted. But the reality is, Salford have no way of stopping these people (assuming they had no 'previous') from getting in to the ground, and then once they are in there, have no control over them-unless anyone is suggesting that fans should self-police each other.

It's the responsibility of the host club to maintain order, and it seems this wasn't done.

I think we're at risk of missing the two key points: how to ensure effective stewarding, and the disgraceful media coverage of a relatively minor incident.

Having read the headlines and then having actually seen the pictures, I'd say there's a real over reaction about Yesterday's incidents. It was a tiny minority of little chavs involved, hardly an army surging down the stand endangering life. It was unfortunate that the players families were caught up in the situation, but it was hardly Beirut like the media would have us believe. Huddersfield must shoulder some of the blame because they employ the £6 an hour useless stewards like every other club, then wonder why incidents aren't nipped in the bud and escalate. It's only a small minority at Salford looking for bother, but it is something that needs to be kept in check. If the bother causers are given free reign to do what they want, they will attract more like minded people and damage your club and the game of RL. It's a shame the media can only give us so much publicity when it is something so detrimental to our game. As for Jools from Huddersfield who saw the 3rd world war about to start in the Salford end, just ignore her, she's a bit of a drama queen.

Good post.

Jools - one other thing which should be directed to your club. Issue tickets for Players wives and children to the Centre of the Main Stand instead of at the bottom of the away fans stand. Its not rocket science in such a huge stadium.

Re: Fighting : Tue Mar 29, 2016 10:18 pm
So you are admitting players wives and children shouldn't be allowed to sit with your fans?
People are able to buy tickets wherever in the stadium they wish. If players wives and kids wanted to sit in the centre of the main stand then they could just like your chairman usually does- and there were others from your club who were on the day. They obviously chose to sit where they did- wonder if they will do so again?
Like yourselves we rent the stadium, and therefore have no say in who is employed as stewards. On one hand you are saying we should have acted sooner on the other there was no bother elsewhere- which is it?
The stewards were pretty ineffectual in preventing the trouble IMO, but at least they acted decisively when it kicked off.
Don't worry I'm sure next time you come to town we will make sure there's a police presence - it'll be just like the old days........

Early bath you seem to have forgotten about the terrible cannonball tackle you were babbling about earlier- I was waiting for you to come back on the Giants board to tell me all about it and the massive ban ......

Well the way your club is plumetting towards the trap door it may be some time until we meet again. Mr Davy will have to pull his wallet out again I fear.

The matter wasnt put on report so its up to the club to cite and therefore I have no idea what the plans are. Totally wrong for you to gloss over the injury to MCB.

Well it does look bad and we did have bit of trouble after the Salford game at Cas but the stewards seemed to anticipate it and acted so swiftly not many people noticed.

Just to put it into perspective in 2014 in the challenge cup semi final between Cas and Widnes. After the game @ 100 Widnes fans invaded the pitch and amongst other things attacked the Cas mascot and threw advertising hoardings at the Cas supporters.

Widnes got off scot free and the final insult was that at the end of the season they were awarded "the club of the year"

Sure there were idiots at the game and we all have a minority but Cas copped for a massive fine just because a few fans made light hearted comments regarding Gareth Thomas's sexual inclination.

Apologies an an a willingness to accept a fair punishment would see us all move on.
