Comments from him via twitter which says it all really "Some are making many excuses of why they not coming to support the boys today.
One reason why they should: it is your team / club"

2521?

That's a massive increase on Salfords previous home game which 'attracted' 1759.

Respect to each and every Salford fan the problem is there just aren't enough of them. Very few people are willing to pay money to watch Salford so all the more credit to those who still do.

We (Wakey) would have had a similar attendance on Thursday if it wasn't for the Hull away support.

It's time 8's games and Challenge Cup games were included on season tickets to make the tv games not look so embarrassing. That goes for every club.

If im not mistaken it was only a tenner to get today with u17s free too. Such a shame that for multiple reasons the Salford public just aren't turning up, I used to really like trips to the willows.

Did you get rid of all the voices in your head? Do you now miss them and the things that they said?

Not true. Salford are only in the qualifiers because of the points deduction. That was hardly Tim Sheens fault now was it!

Best of luck to Salford, while some things are very poor at Salford including but not restricted to attendances it would be sad to see Salford RL suffer.
*Note that I am well aware of the Barton, practically in Irlam Stadium issues etc, as I have discussed with Reds fans here previously*

I still stick to my comments elsewhere that Salford are (due to their issues) more likely, even deserving of relegation, however I DO NOT wish to lose Salford RLFC.

A Leigh v Salford fixture is much more desirable to me than a Leigh v Wakefield fixture ever could be, no offence to Wakefield but as near neighbours it is another local derby for us.

I also long for a really strong Greater Manchester contingent/representation in RL, including Swinton as I feel we are a little too Yorkshire dominant/top heavy in SL.

A Salford & Swinton ground share is the way forward IMHO, although how, where & the possibility that Salford are locked into a long lease at AJ Bell are very big fences to hurdle.

Elsewhere I have stated that I would like to see SL restructured which I won't go into in detail but simply moving to a SL1 & SL2 structure of 16 Clubs with 8 in each & no cache for being in SL1 over SL2.
Both Leagues split at end of regular season & Play Offs a la 8's commence between each league meeting each other to get to a GF or survive relegation.

Bottom of SL relegated, top of Championship promoted.

I might be mental, but to me it works, you get to keep all current SL Clubs including Salford but add Leigh, Bradford, Toulouse & either Toronto or Halifax. End of season Play Offs adds spice & fresh fixtures for all Clubs & retains interest.

Of course, it ain't gonna happen, but it would be my preference & why not, has anything else been a roaring success ?

While I went off on a tangent there I return to my original point, I hope whichever way it goes that some good can come from this & Salford can regroup, stronger & better placed to be a success in RL, I wish you luck.

Yes. It needs a complete restructure. Fair play for them for introducing the 8s system but it is in its infancy and requires tweaking. Here is what i suggest :-

Bottom of Super League is automatic relegation and top of the Championship automatic Promotion then the remaining 3 bottom sides in Sl and top 3 sides in the championship then battle for a 6's rather than 8's.

The Super 8's i believe should have a point cull at the end of the regular season and would suggest this

1st - 10 points
2nd - 8 points
3rd - 6 points
4th - 4 points
then 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th all start on zero

The promotion/relegation issue is the biggest though. Leigh have been deprived of getting a better salary cap and signing better players for 3 years due to the unfair system. They have been expected to gain promotion with championship players. It is only this year where they have pushed the financial boundaries to sign SL standard players that they have achieved this. Say a team like Halifax finished top next year. We all know they won't make it through the 8s but if they were automatically promoted it would give them more revenue, more tv money, better salary cap restrictions and if they went down the following season they would have a better squad to challenge again and would be better for the experience. It is the only way forward.
