Agree, feel the game is doomed as a professional sport. A big city should easily be able sustain a championship team, especially as they were sharing a ground and costs with Union
Is this likely to lead to a shake up of championship and championship 1? That’s two teams gone from league 1.
3 isn't it? Newcastle thunder, London skolars and South Wales? I think the clubs met earlier this week or last week and agreed to keep the structures the same for 2024, but might need to re visit this now, an 8 team league is unsustainable.

Making Coventry and Cornwall have to play the likes of Bradford and Wakefield etc isn't great either. I suppose we are looking at the least worst option. A very small but competitive league or a merged one where they get some serious drubbings.

Yes and no, id imagine Cornwall would get an influx of Bradford and Wakey fans which would be a good payday, but yes the score would be a cricket score.
Could an option be for some of the super League teams to play their reserve teams in league 1? Gives the reserve teamers a better experience of competitive rugby, and also solves the problem we've had this season of reserve fixtures being called off when certain teams can't fulfil the fixture
