As the festive season is nearly upon us : Tue Dec 06, 2022 5:30 pm
With club's rosters sorted, squad numbers given, oversees players settling in and preseason well down the track, ground improvements under way and merchandising hopefully flying out the door and open days and fans forums done/due how is everyone feeling about their particular clubs' prospects for the coming season. Which player (s) do you expect to shine and where do you think your particular team will finish.

Looking forward to seeing the new signings, Ritson and Bruines. Both come with little expectation I guess as neither are establish players in the top division, but will be interesting to see how they both go, if they make it into the first team. Also the return of Lewis Dodd could be revolutionary for Saints. I think his absence massively affected us last season and we could go up a gear this year if he comes back and finds his feet, although again probably got to temper expectations given how severe an injury it was.

The introduction of Wellens, Talbot and Frayssinous in the coaching team will also be interesting. Saints defense has just been too good for the rest of Super League for a few years now, as has our fitness levels and intensity. Will they be able to maintain that whilst also improving the attack, which is their stated aim this season? Who knows, the potential is there for it to go either way. I wouldn't be surprised if we're back at Old Trafford, I also wouldn't be at all surprised if we find it hard to adapt and Wellens 'does a Cunningham' and we're nowhere near.

A few other things I'm looking forward to in Super League generally. Can Warrington finally make it work? They've thrown the kitchen sink, the baby and the caravan at it this year. They also have the potential to be anywhere from 2nd bottom to Super League champions. Huddersfield are the dark horses I feel, but Wigan really should be improving on their dismal end to last season. They can't spend more than half a million on two star players and not make the final again, surely? Leeds are confident they'll be champions, but I'm not sure Rowan has the players at his disposal. Perhaps a season or two early for them.

Looking forward to seeing a fully fit Lewis Dodd. He was unplayable until his injury.

Saints will finish top with absolute ease if they can stay relatively injury free. The gap between them and the rest of superleague is massive. St Helens would be a top 8 club in the NRL.

However, I dont think they will win the grand final as they are due a bad game in the final and I think this will be the year

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

I think we might see Wire featuring a bit more this season, they have added leadership players for the coming season, all depends if Powell has burnt last seasons coaching manual though.

Overall in theory should be competitive with Huddersfield, Leeds, Wire, Wigoon, Salford and Saints challenging. Catalans have made a lot of changes so I don't know if they are going to be early season leaders.

I just hope we don't have an injury ravaged and disciplinary effected season that all teams struggled with. We need our best players on the pitch for most of the games.

To be fair. If you read the Leeds forum their fans are on a par with Wigan fans for thinking they have the best players in each position
