Interesting... but as Uncle Alibert was the ref I'm not surprised - he can't count. The point being that Salford (defending in the photo) have 14 players on the pitch and win the game 34-30 against the attacking Tigers side.

The extra man who was supposed to have gone off was involved in 3 tackles on that final attacking set too!

I'd imagine it's the official on the sideline. The ref in the middle has enough to do. Shouldn't happen though.

It's not Alibert's fault. You can't take your eye off the game and start counting. That's the job of the sideline official. He shouldn't let any player go on to the field unless someone leaves the pitch. I doubt he will be getting that gig again anytime soon. It's not the hardest job in the world is it? Count to 10 and make sure a player comes off before a Ayer goes on?
