Some might look at this as being harsh but I think it's fair. When are the Rugby League going to stop persisting with this fantasy expansion. If it hasn't worked by now, it never will! I'm all for reaching out to a wider audience with our game but not at the expense of historical clubs in the homelands.

Top tier open at Wembley.

Have a look at the graphic, the Final and for Huddersfield - looks impressive! :D
Weird that they haven't yet opened the full stadium at Huddersfield looking at that.

The sales for Wembley look really impressive so far. Looking at that graphic you'd have to think that we've shifted 35-40,000 already and if the team gets off to an impressive start in Cardiff we really could be looking at a huge crowd for that one.

More seats opened up for Old Tafford also and it looks like the who Boton tier is sold out.

No update on the Cardiff graphic though. Hope that isn't a bad sign.

Looking really good overall though.

ticket prices are such that they are not designed to generate the profit....that has been done by selling the hosting rights to people like the Cardiff stadium owners.

And that's a bad thing? Guaranteed money. The game is skint.
You'd be complaining if it wasn't making money, just like you was complaining that having it on Premier Sports has stopped it attracting a headline sponsor (how many other sports' World Cups have a headline sponsor?). You can't win.

England should play all their games in the heartlands........I just don't agree with some of the other selections for venues.

Why should all the games be in the heartlands? And where?

gutterfax wrote:
As for international Union....lol....why drag it into the debate? England will play Australia, Argentina and the AB's at Twickenham in November and in all probability generate more revenue from those 3 games than the entire RL world cup.........perception and perspective JB......you need to get both

If you don't think it should be brought into the debate, there's the point in debating it. You're hardly innocent of dragging union into debates where not necessary though, so why complain about that as well?

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Wowsers.

Maybe it's time to start buying tickets. The final has gone from open all hours to standing room only. Seriously people are going to need to get their skates on.

I'm pleased there's so much anecdotal evidence available which is suggestive of an extremely well attended RLWC in the next couple of months.

Even if a shedload of tickets only cost a fiver

I'm sure you will be there to count the numbers...

But the sold out sections have made me consider getting my act in gear.

All I did was point out that the revenue declared as having generated a profit was predominantly based on other commercials.....

Wellsy13 wrote:

Because come 2015 that's where the only pro teams in the UK will be based....if the organisers and RFL are so keen for expansion, then London might have popped up on the radar ahead of Limerick and Bristol

You opened the box....don't get all defensive when the facts don't suit your party line agenda.

I had a message from a mate who works in a school in South Wales; they sold 50 tickets there today. Obviously just a tiny number compared to the numbers available but a great little story in itself.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales : Tue Sep 17, 2013 9:11 pm
Its looking a lot more encouraging then it was a month ago with more then the big games looking to sell out. Derwent Park, Avignon and Spotland are really close to capacity! Really think we should be making every England game a sell out and put our sport on the map. Regardless of how much the tickets cost, this world cup isn't about million pounds worth of profit, its about showcasing the game to the nation and the world. If we support it and pack out grounds we may just get a fair few thousand more people to attend our sport regular!

The RLWC committee has done everything in its power to make this success, the buck now stops with all rugby league fans IMO.

Who cares what England team line up, who cares where the games are held ? We should all care about the welfare our sport and do our up most to build up that hype.
