Catalans were stopped from signing everyone they could from here and Australia/NZ then it would make them have to put in player development systems rather than claim some junior club is their Academy and a senior small club nearby is their Reserve team . They could also sign a few Toulouse lads as well. Moan as much as they want they have a whole game to draw players from.
OK they may argue that French RL despite the presence of a Superleague club is really rather limited in the numbers who play and the talent that doesn't automatically choose Rugby Union. But if so (and IS probably so as the French test team was poor) what are they doing pinching a spot in Superleague?
Whatever it is it isn't what was agreed 2006
If only those M62 club owners weren't permitted to appoint overseas coaches.
They only run academies for the money they are given. They would go the same way as the M62 reserve sides if they had their choice.
You should get your confidante Lenagan to rid the sport of Catalans Dragons,Toronto Wolfpack and Toulouse immediately. That would save you from the only threads you pass comment on - those involving overseas clubs.
'Great defence, always wins games, y'only have to score one more point than them. If tha does, tha'll win, if that doesn't tha'll lose, learn from it, more than the win last week.'. Peter Fox, 1980.

To be FAIR, the best Academy set up (NOT now SL) provided most of the English pack a few years ogo. They clearly DO NOT do it just for the money, it's about producing talent. From Sir Keith, to Hanley, to Burgess x 3, Bateman and Bentley, (many more) Bradford Academy has produced some of the best. Proof of the pudding, Wigan (the most successful club over the years) have signed more Bradford lads than any other club over the past 40 years. (please correct me if I am wrong) . I may be. Drinking in Greece!
The Academy system works, it is the 'Future of The Game'.

The native player quota should be 20% year 1, 40% year 2 and 60% year 3.

If you think those numbers are in any way realistic, you obviously have no idea about the level of Canadian and US rugby league. They would get battered week in and week out, and it would get worse every year, not better. They would get relegated in Year 3 and relegated again in Year 4. You simply cannot train people to that high a standard overnight.
It would be like telling the Toronto Maple Leafs that almost 2/3 of their ice hockey squad had to be British, within 3 years. They'd be lucky to find one NHL standard player from the UK. Utterly ridiculous.

Yes.I agree that Bradford have one of,if not the, best youth production systems. But as I type this they are no longer in Super League and their better youth products leave the club.
Bradford having an academy was not a requisite for their entering Super League.
Either all clubs must have an academy,or it isn't a necessity.
The sport never seems to reach a level playing field - or enough time spent sorting out a direction for the future.
This pandemic has not resulted in talks about the way forward. It seems continuing to lurch from crisis to crisis is to be continued...

and that is the RFL all over, no foresight, no plan, no strategy. It's a bit like watching Hull in the Agar years!

Like the present Government. No foresight, no strategy, no long term tactics, just fire fighting and panic, from week to week, month to month and year to year.
I started Future of The Game, purposely with a goal. I still think it may happen, or not, but at least there was a foreseeable goal. These people, NO fkn idea!

So then what’s the point ?? No participation growth, weaken the player pool, all take and no give. Expansion in name only whilst the current clubs share any central funds and pay to travel the Atlantic, stupidity staring you right in the face !!!
