With all his countless wealth why has TWP asked SL for a 200K loan, like loose change to Mr Argyle, is he getting fed up?
Hi Harry,
Earlier in this thread I posted a link to the Sydney Morning Herald from February? It reported that David Argylle was offering to buy into Melbourne Storm as the owner was seeking investment partners. Your astute enough to understand none of the Superleague bosses ever wanted TWP. They let them in on a deal with Rimmer who agreed to the dumping of the middle eights and £Million pound game as long as SL did not block promotion.
TWP's reception since they joined was icy to say the least and their start put paid to the nonsense about how glamorous they were. The crowd at the Headingley Triple opener were most unimpressed.
So put simply Argyle knows when he is not wanted, and he isn't, and he now has an exit strategy to get on the Melbourne board. Therefore he's stopped bankrolling TWP which was an easy thing to do. They "only" cost him about $5M a year and as he is a $$billionaire mining magnate so that was loose change to him. Maybe he thinks pulling back is a nice piece of revenge.
Total RL/League express & Rugby Leaguer won't tell you any of this as they were so sure that North America was the future. Today's edition doesn't editorially cover the real facts as to TWP but they have allowed Gary Schofield to tell some home truths,
But the bottom line is Argyle has stopped bankrolling them. His dream of an NRL club that he always wanted has taken him away.......
And as you know TWP are NOTHING without Argyle
