I think a few of our squad are going to be for a bit of a rude awakening in the next week or two.
People are hardly going to be queueing up to sign up our players after the way they've been playing this season.
Agree with that, but part of a coach's job is to see potential, both in a player and in a particular role he hasin mind for the given player at a new club. And the second part is to make the player believe it and play in a team of similar.
Like Sir Peter Fox did back in the day. He signed the sort of players that you are referring to, and did so cheaply and easily as everyone else thought they were either past it, no good, or looking for a pension. Which tbf they might even have been, for all I know, before Foxy came along.
In that light, I am convinced that especially for the Championship signing players with the potential of Manu and Henry would be meat and drink for Fox. Manu should be able to crush Championship defenders, and Henry from the flashes he has shown is superior in attack to Championship standard, plus has had his introduction to northern RL and will start anew in 2015 a much improved player (imho of course).
These are players that could still make it in SL. We would do well to hang on to them as the more genuine potential SL players we can get in the group, the merrier.
I see that shrewd operator Powell just sigend Matt Cook for Cas. Even leaving the genius of Fox out of the equation, I don't want to see yet another clutch of ex-Bradford men doing the business for other teams, I'm sick of watching Bateman, Bridge, Atkins, Ferres, Wardle, Patrick, Pryce, Peacock, Whitehead et al, even Moore, Kopczak, Carvell, Sammutt and Scruton as it is and wondering what might have been.
