| Not sure if anyone saw the printed edition of the T&A tonight (the article doesn't appear to be on-line), but there was a two-page spread about a campaign to get speedway included in the OSV. Though I have no interest in the sport itself, I can appreciate that there's a considerable lobby for speedway in and around Bradford, and it might make economic sense to have it on board.
The dispiriting part was councillor Mallinson's contention that it would have to be carefully looked into and costed. Not bad things in themselves, but I can easily see that they would constitute a ready excuse to go back to the drawing board and defer the whole thing for another couple of years [size=34(if something that isn't going to happen can be said to have been deferred!)[/size

| I think this article was done by someone who`s not been to the stadium for a while, I mean the speedway bikes would race where exactly, under the Coral stand perhaps? I doubt there`s enough of the old corner left to race properly.
Actually it it might look good, they could put floodlights under the stand and it would look a bit like the Monaco grand prix where they race through tunnels. Another first for Odsal!!

Wan't this considerable lobby turning up in groups of less than a thousand to see the Dukes in their championship winning year?

I didn't know that. Perhaps I've mistaken 'a considerable noise made by a small lobby' for a 'considerable lobby'.

In the confined space of a lobby, that could be extremely noisy.
Consider coat got.

I didnt think any of the old speedway track had been taken away for the construction of the coral stand apart from the pits?

Not much from the back maybe, but the pitch has been lengthened which has the effect of making the corners narrower. The pitch still needs a bit more length to be the (now) standard 100 metres between the sticks so I can`t imagine the Bulls allowing all the extra grass (over and above what was taken up before when the pitch was shorter) at the ends being dug up to provide bends with sufficient width to allow much chance of the riders overtaking.
Under the current position at Odsal it would mean banking the corners from around the five metre mark rather than just the in goal areas. Admittedly banking isn`t compulsory for speedway but the fact that the old track was banked helped to provide much of the excitement and flat bends just wouldn`t be the same.
