Agree Avenue was a nice ground and the best in the city, imo, for facilities.
When Avenue went belly up, the council finished up owning the ground and the Bulls, or let's be accurate, Northern actually had the chance to go to Avenue, but turned it down, so it wasn't any 'founding fathers' who made that decision but the club itself. With Northern having a lease at Odsal, that ground wasn't in a position to be sold.
Not really sure what the reasons for turning it down were, though I suspect the ground was well on the way to dereliction by then, so it wasn't like comparing that really nice ground that Park Avenue once was, with an Odsal which was still in current use.
Avenue only left to go to City as they were skint and couldn't afford to keep it going.
