DVD - Farewell Knowsley Road : Fri Nov 26, 2010 9:56 pm
I have now watched the new Saints' DVD - 'Farewell Knowsley Road - Home of Legends since 1890'.
This is an excellent production and the club should be proud of their efforts in capturing the history & heritage of the old ground and celebrating it's end. The DVD is 95 minutes in duration with 50 minutes of the DVD is spent covering the history of the club and ground. There is many prevously unseen images of the ground and some gems of old cine footage of matches played at the stadium. There are interviews with supporters, club officials, past players and current players. The historical aspects covered are informative and interesting as Club Historian Alex Service narrates his way through 120 years of the St. Helens Club There is the Fans Photo. The Past Players lap of honour before the Hull K.R. match is covered as is the last ever Past Players dinner. The last League match versus Castleford is chroinicled as is the last ever match versus Huddersfield. There is also the Farewell Festival, Fireworks and the Memorial Service. This DVD IMHO is great and is a fitting record of the closing times of Knowsley Road and would make a great gift for either yourself or a loved one. This DVD perfectly compliments the Club's Special A4 Programme that was produced for the last 'League' match versus Castleford and certainly whets the appitite for the two books, So Long Knowsley Road and the Coffee Table book that is due to be released in the next few weeks. The DVD is to be officially launched at the Saints Superstore tomorrow (27/11/2010): http://www.saintsrlfc.com/news/2921 |
