The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

I'd presume if they prove me correct, Adam will be back over ala SMD.

Quinlan was OK in the first couple of games with his support play. For me he is the worse full back we've ever had in a saints shirt, he had zero confidence going head on in attack and defence, Paul Wellens with a gammy hip would have made some of those tackles and would,t resort to "pass the parcel" when Quinlan was on a kick return. Like many people have said we thank him for helping us out, as for being a good modern fullback......thats a definite NO.

Like I said, he was never fit with us. He clearly had a pretty bad thigh injury in that game before he came over and should probably have had a month off, but that would have been embarrassing for Saints. He was protecting his leg and didn't have the acceleration he has on the youtube clips from last season.

Is this Danny Craven better than him?

I would say not given that he can't get into the Widnes starting 17.
22 appearances in three seasons.

Might be the fact that I fancy him a bit clouding my judgement, but I liked Quinlan. He reminded me of Rob Burrow and I don't think we ever saw the best of him.

Despite the lies the club came out with when he signed, he was clearly pretty badly injured in that game for the Magpies (Or whoever it was). He came over with more padding than Nick Fozzard on his thigh and he was never fully fit for us. If you look at him on youtube, he was like a young Rob Burrow, as spritely as it's possible to get. He was limping through his stay with us.

He is a modern fullback and a good one at that. He's prone to being stepped one on one, but lets face it, he's replaced Paul Wellens and he was absolutely appalling in every aspect of the game towards the end. Lomax is done, no point even bringing him back at all. SMD is probably in the same boat.

So the modern fullback is one that can't tackle, can't beat a man and doesn't like any form of contact?

I'd rather have the old fashioned fullback then. Give me Wello over quinlan any day of the week.

He's the worst fullback I've seen in a Saints shirt and that includes Leon Felton and SMD who are awful

Not sure SMD deserves to be labelled as awful. He was looking good before his injury.

I'm saying he was injured throughout his stay with us. He's never going to be amazing defensively, but we definitely need someone to play there at the start of the season.

His first stint he wasn't looking too good, second stint he started to gel into the side and was making a few breaks. In defence and running the ball out was much better than Quinlan.

Kick awareness and positioning were well down though!

Re: Quinlan : Wed Oct 14, 2015 2:50 pm
Quinlan was very good under the high ball, but as Pete says avoided contact wherever possible and made next to no yards on kick returns. SMD was a touch better but still he's a very, very average player. Neither are good enough to be here longer than needed and should not be given new contracts.

Re: Quinlan : Wed Oct 14, 2015 5:48 pm
Quinlan covered a position for us but he's not good enough IMO.

He looked solid under the bomb and his support play got him over the line a few times for us but he struggled in other areas IMO. He didn't threaten the opposition with his kick returns and defensively he was too rushed with his one v one decision making. He was beaten too easily, too frequently IMO. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt if he was brilliant in attack but as I say, his kick returns were consistently poor and despite a few nice touches, his vision coming into the line wasn't up to standard I'd expect for a club who are serious about winning trophies.
