Cool looking lights.

Was going to take my dslr to tonights training session.

Do you think the stewards will be upset? I don't want to be thrown out of the first ever event ;)

Re: Stadium Site pictures : Fri Dec 09, 2011 9:09 pm
Fantastic pic JM. The bridge is stunning when lit up. I like the way it changed colours from white to red (via that pinky colour you seem to have captured!).

The weather was perishing and the West Stand gets a fresh breeze. Reminded me of my season at Widnes in that respect! ONLY that respect though. Langtree Park is a very impressive stadium.

I did have a moment of nostalgia though. The PA kept breaking up in the West Stand. Reminded me of the Pop Side at KR ...

Bumper picture edition coming up.

You can also look forward to some full HD Youtube videos of my walk round the stadium.

We start with the walk from the Chalon way car park in the Town centre

Image

Then past the world of Glass and onto THE SAINTS WAY, past the chamber of commerce offices on the left. The stadium floodlights can be seen in the distance.

Image

we then arrive at THE SAINTS WAY BRIDGE, which is a magnificent site all lit up. Especially as it changed colour. You will see this later in one of my HD videos.

But anyhow here are some pics of the bridge

Image

Image

Image

Image

Once off the bridge its a quick walk past Tescos to be greeted by the magnificent site of our new stadium. As you can see from this picture, there is a fair crowd of people walking to the stadium

Image

Modern electronic turnstiles were in operation

Image

The club shop has also opened at the stadium. Though it currently as only a limited stock at present. Notice the heritage display at the back of the store were it says Saints v Castleford tigers.

Image

The founders bar was open to invited guests only. Still needs tables and chairs fitting and some TV,s and photographs of Saints players in action

Image

The South stand lit up

Image

The community facility looked like it had a bit of a stadium opening party going on, possibly for Saints staff. Notivce the moveable partition in the background.

Image

Shot of the stadium lit up from the North west corner

Image

Two of the North stand itself. Note how the roof appears green due to reflecting the grass pitch

Image

Image

end of part1

Part two features internal stadium shots

Part 2

The North stand concourse is cavernous.

Image

The west stand concourse is quite large, and despite the heavy rain and sleet was still relatively dry. It was only when an occasional strong gust of wind hit that you would feel the rain getting in the stadium

Image

The South West concourse. Notice the huge bar area with the shutters down

Image

At the end of this concourse is a large picture of Saints legend Tom Van Vollenhoven. The HD video tour will also reveal the Kel Coslett picture.

Image

In the South East Concourse there is a large picture of Kevin Ward

Image

Turnstiles in the South East corner of the ground showing again the large concourse areas.

Image

A couple of shots of the North stand concourse. You can see the extent of the rains penetration. Once the cladding is on the stand should be pretty much dry.Bear in mind that it was still windy with terrible rain.

Image

Image

Want to know what the gents is like.Well this is what away fans will get.

You proabably think this toilet block is small

Image

However its far bigger than the first photos shows

Image

I'm afraid i didnt want to risk getting arrested for sneaking in the ladies, and i didnt take pictures of one of the quite frankly cavernous North stand toilet blocks, because it was in full operation. I do know of at least one lady who took pics inside the ladies toilets so hopefully they will be on the net somewhere in the next few days, showing the facilities on offer there.

end of part2
Part 3 features pitch side pics

Part3

The View from the stands

The West terrace

Image

Image

Image

view of the South stand from the East stand at pitch level

Image

The scoreboard in the North East corner, as viewed from the East Terrace. The big screen will be fitted below it. The scoreboard is IMO the worst part of the new ground. Its like a throwback to the one at Knowsley road. The clock above seems to be running on British summer time rather than GMT

Image

A higher level view from the East terrace. Note how wet it is at the front of this terrace. This will probably be the norm when it rains as prevailing winds tend to come from the South West and therefore are likely to impact the East terrace. It should therefore remind away fans of the Eddington end at Knowsley road with them scurrying to the back of the stand once a heavy shower hit.

Note also the depth of each terrace step

Image

A magnificent pitch. Remember this is after the players have spent an hour training on it, and despite a couple of days of horrendous weather.
In the foreground you can also see the artificial turf which is a darker shade of green, and which surrounds the pitch perimeter.

Image

finally the walk home across the bridge
