The Expanse : Mon Feb 18, 2019 10:21 am  
Having been cancelled by Netflix and rescued by Amazon - season 3 has landed on Prime; and it's brilliant.

Very hard to explain without doing it an injustice - but it's basically a galaxy spanning space opera, with some pretty hard sci-fi, well rounded characters and a massive overarching storyline that brings it all together. I would say that it's probably one of the best small screen sci-fi efforts I've ever seen - well worth a catch up if that kind of stuff floats your boat.

I don't generally binge - but I probably will on this - it's outstanding.

It being picked up by Amazon is what made me finally decide to subscribe to Prime. It's got better with each season, and the character arcs are terrific. Like you, I would also consider it to be the best Sci fi programme I've seen.

Hopefully, prime rescue 'Travelers' as well, it seems unless you become as big as Stranger things you're not given much of a chance.

Travellers has passed me by - is it worth a go?

Also - if you're a fan of the genre, did you catch Altered Carbon on Netflix? It got panned, I think partly because the sci-fi themes are pretty hardcore - but I thought it was excellent.

Travellers is definitely worth it, it's not too heavy on the sci fi, and is more about the characters. It's created by the guy who created Stargate.

I have to admit, I'm not sure about Altered Carbon, it's been on my list for a while, but I haven't got round to it. To be honest, I find myself thinking 'it's not going to be as good as the expanse, so what's the point?', but I'm sure I'll get round to it. It's created by one of the guys behind Alita, so it'll be pretty good, I'm sure.

I'll give that a whirl then - cheers!

I came to Altered Carbon from the books - which are superb; it reads as unfilmable, but I think they did a really good job - I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I started watching the expanse just before Xmas,

Have now finished season 4.

After the first episode I thought it is ok. Watched the second episode and was hooked.

What a great programme , good story, politics, intrigue , character development etc.

David Strathmore is excellent in it and. Cara Gee as drummer is my idea of sex on legs !

Absolutely brilliant best sci fi series I have ever watched .
