Poltergeist - 7/10

A passable remake of the original but doesn't quite capture the same level of suspense or fear. The actings OK but again doesn't match up to the originals with the exceptions of the dad and the son.

Entertained me for and hour and a half but on reflection I could have just rewatched the better original

Pretty much always the way isn't it? I struggle to think of a remake that is better, or even the equal, of the original.

It's a lazy and pernicious Hollywood habit, to take something that was a hit and try to recycle it for a new audience - I guess the assumption is that the modern audience won't know any better?

Bad Neighbors: Really pleasantly surprised by this, I thought it would be terrible. However, as stupid American university film go this is one of the best in years. Some genuinely laugh out loud moments - 7.5/10 :)

Jupiter Ascending - I really can't be bothered; having wasted two hours of my life, the only positive thing I can salvage from it is urge you not to do the same.

2/10 - Absolutely turgid.

I think giving it a 2 is being overly generous.

It's in contending with Fast and Furious 7 for worst film of the year.

Horrible Bosses - 2/10. Was expecting this to be pretty funny, given they've made a follow up - one of those that had some big names in but kind of went under the radar and got a bit of a cult following - and expected the 2nd one to be a complete flop (which it probably was). But this was absolute tosh, I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I laughed throughout the entire film, and was very disappointed at the end of it.

Kingsman - The Secret Service. I like the comics and as such, didn't hold out much hope for the film. Surprisingly, it was a lot of fun and while it takes a fair few liberties with the comic, that will only bother you if you're a fan. Enjoyable turns from Colin Firth and Mark Strong as the good guys and Michael Caine plays, as he always does, himself - but very well. Samuel L Jackson is also excellent as the geeky super-villain who can't stand the sight of blood.

It's not deep, has no particular message and isn't clever or artsy in any way - but if you like Bond before they made him dark and angsty, you'll find plenty to like here.

7/10 - enjoyable silliness!

The Human Centipede 3 ( Final Sequence ). Set in a prison this time with characters coming back from the first two but in different roles with the idea of creating a 500 person centipede in jail as a money saving exercise. Plenty of gore in it which will please fans of that. Better than the second one anyway even if the acting by Dieter Laser is over the top.

6/10.

Inside out the new Disney / pixar film.

An incredibly interesting and intelligent film which is actually like a psychology lesson about child and brain development. It is basically a guide to good parenting.

Most enjoyable kids film i have seen in ages.

Agreed. It really is a dreadful film.
