Has anyone heard any news about Danny Lockwood's League Weekly magazine re starting?

It's finished for good, or at least that's what was announced.

And, much as the loss of a Rugby League publication shouldn't be celebrated, saying good riddance to Lockwood is a very big silver lining. His association with the sport was at best unsavoury.
"Brian McDermott, with a wry smile, nods when asked if he remembers a specific incident which made him realise he was a prick. 'I do', he murmurs."

It was/is a far more encompassing read than the anodyne Rugby League express.

It was nowhere near as likely to break new stories, and more importantly, the new ones they did attempt to break were often wrong.

Agree 100%, much better read than League Express. I buy League Express simply because there is no other weekly paper.

For what it's worth I covered loads of amateur games for League Express in the early 1990's and will always be grateful to Martyn Sadler for believing in me. But I liked League Weekly and Danny Lockwood's forthright opinions on the game always rang true to me. Don't get the Nazi references, but I'm sure those who have referenced it have some some extremely strong evidence to even bring it up. Point is: the sport is poorer for the absence of 50% of the trade press.

Lockwood is an associate of Tommy Robinson. It's not exactly a secret.

I didn't buy any of them. That's a lie. I bought both when we won the treble. Bit of a keepsake.
