| That's the sort of stand off I want at Leeds. Young, British, not afraid to try different plays. Does anyone know his current contract situation? Don't think I've seen him have a bad game this year.

| He's had plenty of poor games. He's been terrific in the games against us, though. He's already better than Matty Smith IMO

That's not a great example. He is the best Super League based stand off option for England.

| His last tackle options are the best part of his game at the moment IMO, and that's where he's been most threatening in the games against us. Still has a bit too much of the young McGuire about him at times, in that he looks to drop the shoulder and go on his own rather than playing to the structure outside him. Some of that could be down to the way Wigan set up though, as I've alluded to on another thread.
IMO he'd look even better playing in a side where second rows and outside backs know how to run good angles off him and create space.

| He is showing promise but its still early days and he has much to learn, but the signs are good.If him and Sutcliffe can progress at the rate they are now for the next two years we may yet have some good options in the halves for the next WC.

Whoa there tiger. Sutty has got every bit as much potential as Williams, who I agree is talented.
The main difference this season being Williams is the first choice six where sutty still has competition - which I think is a good thing but has meant he hasn't seen the level of limelight Williams has.
Hopefully the fans will give sutty some time and space to learn next season. If so it could be a case of Williams-who?

Sutcliffe is a utility player for me. Can play 1,4,6,7 but his best position is 13. We need an out an out stand off who has the ability to control a game. Williams will only get better. Sutcliffe's time to learn was this year. He did OK, but we missed Sir Kev's game management.

| Not sure why people are arguing what number on the teamsheet Sutcliffe is listed at. It's an irrelevance.
The loose forward as a pivot however is virtually extinct in the modern game, so it's more likely that he'll line up at stand-off alongside McGuire.

OK?
He was far better than just ok and we only missed Sinfields game management when we were on the back foot in games and Mcguires weakness as a Captain was exposed.

Yes, it seems like an age ago now since Sinfield announced he was leaving and at that time its probably fair to say Sutcliffe was the form player of the 2 and was keeping him out.Who knows what the situation would be now were he not out for the season but Sinfield has been very good since, so there has not really been a cause for a debate.

If the measurement is for what Sinfield does best, and what this team needs the most, then not at any point whatsoever this season has Sutcliffe shown himself the better of the two, or more importantly is capable of doing what Sinfield does.
