Bookies Predictions 2011 : Wed Dec 01, 2010 8:39 am
http://sports.williamhill.com/bet/en-gb ... inner.html

Looks like a bit of a gap developing between the rest of SL and the top 4....with us pretty much outsiders at 6/1.

If I was a betting man, Huddersfields odds are far better than ours. I am pretty sure they will finish above us in the league. Whether they have the toughness to challenge for the prize is another matter. But 20/1 is pretty good.

Edit. Just noticed that is for regular season only, so Huddersfields odds are far better than ours.

Huddersfield just havn't got the winning mentality and will lack consistency again to win the league. But what they can do is cause some upsets and really rattle the playoffs.

I like how peoples opinions about Leeds have changed so dramatically. 12 months ago we we're favourates. After an horendous season with injuries we still got to wembley, finished 4th in the league and got within 80 mins of old trafford. Imo Leeds have strengthened the squad with more go forward. Imo anyone out of Leeds, Wigan, Saints and Warrington can go onto to win the league and the GF. I will definately have a dabble on our odds.

How in a blue moon have you come up with Leeds are strengthened?

Players that were all ready reaching their end are now a year older, to add to that we have two very very important players missing for the first quarter of the season, one of which causes a complete reshuffle of the team.

Leeds from a playing resource are a million miles away from been streghthened from last year. What we do have however, is a new coach which IMO will bring about a new lease of life to certain players, which may well see us play better than last season. But that better may not be good enough due to how much better other sides will be next year. Only time will tell, but the bookies certainly have it right to say we will not challenge Saints and Wigan.

I says that because I think Leeds have the best back line in SL still. What was immensely missing last year was the forwards to get them the space to work. Leeds just got battered week after week and we're shut down from minute one. People can say what they want about Cross but if he says injury free then he will boost the pack. Young Clarkson is going to bulk up in pre-season, that will give us a bit more go forward. Then there is Hauraki who is not affraid to get his head down. We have got rid of the 2 hooker system and will be carrying an extra prop or back rower on the bench. IMO the pack let us down last year and without a doubt that has improved for 2011.

You are quick to keep bulling us up, and in all honesty I am not dissagreeing with your thoughts entirely. Cross will be a better signing than given credit, Clarkson will improve. I personally feel the coaching change will have a big positive effect.

But what you completely fail to acknowledge is how much better other teams will be next year, and that is why the bookies have us down as non challengers.

Im not turst me. Thats why I said anyone out of Leeds, Saints, Wigan and Warrington can win SL. Saints still lack the backs, but the pack will be immense. As will Wigans with Lima and Hoffman. Finch is alright, but all in all I would say there backs havn't improved much. (not that they need to). Im not too sure who Warrington have signed apart from Hodgson who will add some nice strike. One thing is for sure there is going to be ample class on show in 2011.

I wasn't just talking about the title challengers.

We finished higher than Huddersfield last year on the last game of the season. I think Huddersfield will be even better. Hull will be a better team than last season. The Bulls (although i still see them battling for the play offs) will be ten times better than last season. Salford will be much improved.

All of those sides we picked up points against last season, points that will be harder to achieve next year. It's those points that determine where you are on the league ladder, not just by competing with Saints and Wigan.
