The same Sam Powell who is moving down the pecking order at Wigan for Kruise Leeming?
Would not be surprised or disappointed if this turned out to be true. It's been obvious that both O'Connor and Johnson have been struggling over the last couple of months. O'Connor's workrate and defence continue to be good but the accuracy of his passing is poor, maybe a small step down from Leeming's which was also poor. Johnson’s passing is generally better but his defence in the middle is suspect, a big failing for a hooker. Neither has much of a running game, although it's clearly something O'Connor is trying to develop. In short, they are not good enough as a pair. Bringing in Powell would give us better service to our new halves, add to the experience and IQ of the team, and let both of them try to improve their game without having to do such big minutes. The big thing is that the remaining half back slot needs to be filled with a player of genuine quality. The wait goes on.
