Suspect they're doing it more for the cricket ground than for us, and we've piggy backed as part of a joint redev deal. It's a fair chunk of the cost though, so no bad thing IMO.

To be more specific the fact that it's an international cricket ground. Both the Rhinos and Yorkshire cricket have benefited financially from England playing cricket matches at headingley.

There's already plenty of Loiners on the WT. Never had any bother before so presumably any future occurrences can be squarely laid at the feet of the Southstanders. Don't want it to be like Belle Vue with home fans crying because the nasty away fans are stood amongst them!

Would love to know how some organisations justify sponsorship deals. Sounds a bit random to sponsor headingley but then again I still don't know where to go if I need to get a hose mended.

Never quite got why Carnegie would pay out all that in sponsorships of challenge cup and headingley in the past.

But then I am a tight Yorkshireman

The Emerald deal was described as "in addition to a range of commercial, community and charitable benefits." The sponsorship deal with Leeds Building Society ends this year - it's possible that they may be our new shirt sponsor as well.

Rhinos hope to have the new South Stand partially open next year and it is understood a temporary stand is planned on the north side of the ground. This confirms what my reliable source told me The Biffs Back wrote: I heard today that the club will have the lower tiers of both the south and north stands open for the start of the 2018 season and that both will be standing room only.Construction will continue as normal whilst the top tiers of both stands are completed before the seating in the lower tier of the north stand is installed. If true then this should enable the club to full fill it's home games without moving away from Headingley,although i'm not sure if the club will be able to temporarily allocate seats in the Carnegie stand for current north stand season ticket holders?
