If I’m not mistaken Sims is still under contract for next year at St George. There may be a deal do be done to get rid of most of his wage for them while not having a good player land at a competitor - if he fancies coming across to SL.

It is a long shot but would be a cracking signing in theory!

The thing is anybody in the Sims camp is going to rubbish SL at the moment as he has a ridiculous contract for one more year and they will hope he can land a couple more years in the NRL on decent money.

It all depends on what a club in the NRL is prepared to pay. If he stayed one more year then at 32, turning 33 in Feb 23 he might not get another decent deal but move this year and I imagine the Dragons aren’t going to want to pay half of a big contract for him to play for a rival. That is the only way I can see him coming to SL.

It all depends on money but if he is going to go as a marquee player (before you start you can move players around to whatever makes the most financial sense as far as I know) then I’d much rather spend it on somebody else.

Yeah there are two ways to look at this, if we were to go for him seriously.

Either Sims could be the cherry on the cake of our serious title push over the next couple of years; or you just can’t justify that kind of outlay on any 1 player relative to the rest of your squad in SL.

They can still get injured, suspended etc. Also what does it do for squad harmony?

Zero. That’s why I don’t agree with all this marquee nonsense. How would you feel if you were someone like Mik, offer far more than Tet and probably getting paid way less than half!

Moving forward I can see a scenario where Mik and Newman are marquee players for us. I think marquee is a decent idea or you just won’t keep the best home grown players here but if you pay big big money for a couple of players from the NRL it can cause problems.

I don’t get the sense Mik is looking at Tetevano and thinking why are you on big money? However in a couple of years time I think if we want to keep Mik we will need to pay him big money. If he continues to develop he could easily do very well in the NRL. I think if you ask any other team in SL which two Leeds players would you take if you had the choice they would say Mik and Newman

See Akauala is leaving Wire. Not sure if he's going home or what but at 29 could do a job for us and join his mate Mr Austin.

Maybe when Mik has achieved as much as Tetavano he can start to feel aggrieved.
But whilst Oledzki is an imense talent he cannot demand the amount of money Tetavano gets just yet.

Yeh, nonsense comparison.
Tetevano is a seasoned international who has played for years at the highest level.
Oledski has had a couple of good seasons at the bottom half of Super League.
Granted, Mik has the potential to be the best prop in SL, but nowhere near the pedigree yet.
