Kylie is more than deserving a week off, with a physical Huddersfield week after, seems a logical time to give him a week off.

Alot of people seem to think 'oh its only Leigh so let Kirke play'. Regardless of the opposition you cant reward that performance (that verged on gross misconduct) with a spot in the blue and amber the week after. Surely?

Bookies giving Leeds a 28point handicap, surely you guys will be hammering that? Sounds too good a price to be true. Dont think Leigh fans are under any illusions of the outcome, to be within 28 at full time would be decent.

Actually, no it isn't.

What we have shown so far this season is we can beat our top rivals at home, but we are struggling away from home against them. Finishing above them in the league and having an home draw in the play offs, on that basis, is vitally important.

Can you imagine Wigan putting a full team out against Leigh. I mean come on, let's be serious here. It would be poor management to be that conservative.

I didn't see the wire game but if it was as bad as described on here we need a major improvement even to beat Leigh. BM has selected strong lineups against weaker sides than Leigh in the past and I expect similar this week.
Whilst stating the obvious we cannot afford to lose this week, next week means little in the long run.

Having watched the game after the event, I would say the performance was not as bad as described on here. We didn't control the ruck very well and got punished. We seemed to lack ideas in attack too. I can't see eitehr being a major problem against Leigh, no disrespect to them

we should play a virtual 2nd string, its not about disrespecting Leigh, but more about some of the highly touted youngsters we have getting a chance to not only get some game time, but to step up and take control of a game, to be responsible for a performance and not be able to look at a Peacock or a Kylie to make that big hit or bust a tackle to change momentum, to not be able to look to Sinfield or Mcguire to manage the game but to do it themselves. Its an opportunity for them to experience the mental growth that comes from being the leaders and not the followers.

If the likes of Singleton, Sutcliffe, Ward are going to be the players we hope then they should be able to stand up in a game like this.

Handley

Ablett Grade C charge with early guilty plea available, so 1-2 match ban, probably 1. Would have rested him anyway as he's our only mainline player who hasn't been rotated.

There's a few who don't merit a place at the moment and a few who need to play themselves back to form/confidence (I'd include Briscoe and Stevie Ward in that). For me, Sinfield has to play hooker until Aiton or Burrow are back. R.Ward not ready for main hooker and just shoving a second row there doesn't provide any uncertainty as to what's going to happen from acting-half. Would hope to give JP and Kylie fairly short minutes assuming the game is going well, but with the option to bring them back on for more if it isn't.

Re: Team for Leigh : Mon Jun 02, 2014 9:48 pm
We have a big game against one of the toughest packs in SL the following thursday. Kylie & JP are knackered and need a rest. Playing them & endangering the Huddersfield game would be lunacy.

Remember that a defeat could see us drop down to 4th (with Wigan winning their game in hand, and Cas winning in the league) and be only a point or two ahead of Wire. It's vital we stay in the top 2, and keep pressure on Saints & Wigan for the LLS.

Some players need to be trusted with minutes (Singleton, Sutcliffe) some need continued exposure in the first grade (Ward, Minchella, Mulhern), some need to turn in a performance to justify their place in the squad (Bailey, Clarkson & Kirke).

So rest Kylie, JP, Zak (if he's not banned) & Sir Kev. Achurch joins the injury list, Ablett can miss this one & be back for fartown. McGuire skippers in Kev's absence.

Rest a few who need it but progression has got to be the priority.
