It's a bit chicken and egg though, Sir G. We'll run on to the ball a lot better if we're not catching above our shoulders quite as much. I think Levi would give us a better passing game combined with the more direct running game that doesn’t seem to come naturally to either O'Connor or Johnson. I do feel for Sezer in that much of his threat gets blunted because he's working so hard to offset some of the poor service he receives. Levi and a real organising half would make a big difference.

I agree Chris.
Levi would probably be the best 9 in SL if he comes back.
I think we must banking on an English prop to replace Tet if we are bringing in Levi.

As Cluesy says the critical passing 1 or 2 out from the ruck is too often poor. Our passing just isn’t consistent enough and we are often stood static catching a ball on the shoulder rather than running on to it as a line.

Still think a strike FB is a must for next year. 2 year deal for a good player and then see who develops through the academy.

The more you look at our spine positions the more you realise that for us to challenge the big boys we need to better in all of them. Levi would be a significant upgrade at hooker, Laurie would be a significant upgrade at full back. Trouble is, that leaves us with Myler and more than likely Austin - a significant downgrade on a half back pairing that is struggling to get into the play offs as it is.

Depends who's available I suppose. It may be better to go for as much quality as we can get even if they aren't halfbacks. A year without real quality at 6/7 wouldn't be great, but might be better than signing someone for the sake of it who then stinks the place out for three years. Lawrie supposedly can play 6 (I've only really seen him as a full back in the NRL), so maybe someone like that could at least play 6 some of the time?

I wouldn't give up hope of an upgrade at halfback yet though.

For some reason I can't paste the article where it talks about Laurie as a stand off, but the headline is "Play like Cody Walker" in the Sydney Morning Herald.

Laurie has played a lot of 6 in the reserve grade from the highlights I've seen

Is he that much better now than he was at Huddersfield if so I doubt he'll get released by his current employer?

I enjoyed listening to the Lot Pod transfers podcast.

They spoke about potential players who could be on the market at the end of the season. If the Rhinos do gamble, there could be one or two gems available. Particularly in the halves and fullback positions.
