| I think we need a replacement for Tet and could do with replacing one of the HBs so we aren't changing both at the same time the year after

| A full back, a stand off and a replacement for Tet should be on the shopping list

| Quote KaeruJim="KaeruJim"So if we assume a fair bit of cap is going to be released next year, which 2 positions or which 2 specific players do you sign for Leeds?'"
Difficult question to answer since a lot will depend on how the the off contract NRL boys (Fusitu'a, Sezer, Austin, and Tetevano) perform over the next couple of months. I suspect that a couple might stay on renegotiated contracts, and a couple will leave. Priority has to be the spine: I'd say fullback and half back with real pace have to be the priority. Certainly wouldn't be blowing big money on another NRL prop. I'd be fishing in the SL pond for a Tetevano replacement.

| Be interesting to see how Myler, Austin and Sezer go this year.
All the wrong side of 30.
I don't think we'll change all 3, but probably 2.
So one of them needs to earn a new contract.
Big year at 9 as well.
Not sure Rohan will be convinced by any of them.
I think we probably free up an O/S space and bring in an NRL hooker.

O Connor us a year younger and already well ahead of him. I suspect parsons in the Academy is well thought of as well. If Johnson not picked when Leeming is out he never will. Trouble is Johnson’s fan boys and his “great distribution” are losing face in their investment in his ability.

32-33 is not old for Super League players nowadays. Thats almost prime years players can still be at the highest level at 36-38.
Hooley if he comes good may usurp Myler that’s good planning.
If Austin and Sezar keep on thus upward trajectory I see no reason why both don’t get extended by at least a year, then with Sinfield in the wings may be 2025 before we see any investment in halves..
Tet will go even though he is doing all right at the moment, massive waste of space and no contract under any circumstances for me.

| I'd try to get Jordan Dezaria from Catalans as Tetevano's replacement.

| Myler's contracted for next year.
You need to really caveat the idea that players can play into their mid 30s effectively. Some can, some can't, and the drop in performance can happen quite fast. Prior looked very good in 2021 and fell off a cliff last year aged 34. What you definitely shouldn't do is rely on a bunch of players in their 30s all staying at a high standard.
FWIW I wouldn't bother spending a lot to replace Tetevano. I think we've got enough to cover him (five other genuine props now), maybe look at another rotation/project player. I think we're OK at hooker as well if O'Connor continues to develop - he's pretty good now with less than a season in the role and he'll learn more of the craft the longer he plays there. I wouldn't be averse to replacing Leeming, and I'm not sure Smith has a lot of faith in Johnson, so can see a new hooker coming in, albeit maybe another younger player?
I do think we need some speed up the middle, whether that be fullback or one of the halfback positions. We'll have to see what Hooley's like, but I think we'd find it easier to get a fast, good quality fullback from the NRL than a decent halfback. Sinfield may have all the skills but he doesn't seem particularly quick. His dad could play there because in McGuire and Burrow (plus Webb and a young Hardaker) we had other very quick players around.

| Agree with the drop off with some players and their age but it does tend to be the forwards who drop off quicker than the backs

| We should try and get Dupree back. He looks superb at Salford. I'm surprised we ever let him go

| Agree about Dupree looks good every time I`ve seen him play admittedly that's about 5 times!
Don`t think we will look to get a FB as Myler will have one more year and then Hooley if his defence improves.
Half back for me 2 possibly unless Sinfield steps up.
