Listening to the Phil Hay show podcast today, very interesting on the transfer front at the moment and not in a good way..

Phil and the square ball guys concerned we're not bringing in a central mid (big gamble on Phillips being fit and on form for majority of season). Phil saying he doesn't believe Leeds have £30m to spend and Bielsa saying the players he wants are far too expensive. Leeds won't pay the fee Hudds want for Obrien is the latest, Phil not sure why, he thinks £8m may be over priced but is peanuts in the grand scheme of things.. could be other reasons but not sure.

£65m isn't too bad when you look at the league as a whole, a cumulative loss of around 1bn!

some do. leeds is mostly historical debt which is getting paid off, or was until covid kicked in.
put it another way.
leeds are 60 million or so in debt but get over 150 million a year in tv money, sponsorship etc if they are in the top flight. therefore the debts are structured to be paid off yearly. a top football account says leeds are fine.
the rhinos are roughly £30 million in debt due to rebuilding the ground.and get about £2m a year off sky.
I know marty hates leeds and is baiting but theres your answer

nearly £100m sky money plus an extra £24m for extra games shown.
a massive shirt deal, the most lucrative in their history likewise the shirt sponser.
a massive increase in sponsorship income from signs etc.
3rd lowest wage bill in the league.
yes £100m was spent on transfers but it was all structured with nothing huge paid up front. all in all I cant see a 60 odd million pound loss in one season.

Some very interesting information there from Jack and Tad and quite surprising tbh.
Financially LU are doing fine but I still think they need 3 players as whilst Bielsa might like a small squad the quality isn`t there.

not sure what was wrong with the conversation but anyway,

I agree. leeds, like other clubs luke liverpool, burnley etc have a small squad, comfortable at this level.
however a few injuries and theres trouble. leeds need a quality midfielder. apart from that I'm relaxed about te squad

It's to be hoped that Koch and Rodrigo settle better this year, 2 big investments relatively whove not given great returns. On Rodrigo it seems his role is still undecided?
