phone call tomorrow. are you coming? anything but a straight yes we move on. plenty of quality out there.
This, but in an hour and a half. Then we announce the result on the website and via social media. Anything else looks too much like fudging it whilst he makes his mind up.

Exactly. Nearly 7am in Sydney. If I was Gary I wouldnt be going to bed without an answer tonight!
Gutting though it would be, you can’t hold it against him. Think about if a better opportunity came up for you in your job you’d have to take it, you can’t travel across the world just to appease others.
I'm sure I'll be in the minority here, but I would have no ill feeling towards him if he backflips. The reason why; he'd be absolutely stupid to turn it down. He's not even officially started here, and let's say he does now have the option of South's, his choices are;
1 - Honour his word to Leeds, move him and his family to other side of the world, changing schools, leaving friends, worse climate and standard of living etc etc to coach in the vastly inferior SL competition, carrying out a pretty tough rebuild job, at a club where winning comps as become expected, but the squad needs a major overhaul
2 - Stay in Sydney, with zero change to family circumstances, to coach a team where he already works, with some of the best players in the world, who are a genuine challenger for the NRL title.
Head coaching gigs in the NRL will not come available that often to a relatively rookie coach, certainly not at clubs the size and stature of South's.
It's absolutely in his best interests, he has to do what's best for him and his family, and I very much doubt anyone else would choose option 1 if they're really honest.

It’s a tough one, you have to balance the opportunities and your integrity. There isn’t a right answer, everyone will see it slightly differently. I’m looking at it from a business perspective, there isn’t much time to hang around, decisions need to be made and alternatives lined up if it’s a no.

I think in this situation having integrity would be about being upfront in your decision and not leaving anyone hanging so that leeds can move on.
IMO it's obvious that Furner and Souths have been involved in dialogue well before this story even broke, So both will know full well of the circumstances involved in this matter and at what point Furner would become head coach of Souths due to Seibold being removed from the role.
The silence today was deafening for the Rhinos club sadly due to the non denial of the story when it first broke over in OZ when it was clearly possible to do so.
IMO Furner is holding out for the conclusion of the Souths debacle to draw to a close so that he can hedge his bets and keep both options open.
If Furner doesn't fully commit to coaching the Rhinos by tomorrow morning our time then I would tell him to go get ffffucked and we should move on and decide on our next coaching options.
