I think that’s what he means. You’ve got to balance the youth with quality and experience otherwise it could do more damage than good. Our glory years were built by doing just that
Exactly, it's alright wanting quality signings mid season but who is available and are people forgetting the players have just taken a pay cut, you can't go round splashing the cash after you have convinced your current staff to cut their pay.
That's the point isn't it. We should have been doing this before now, but we took a different route, and look like we are still failing to learn from it. It will not work.
And if there is a team of youngsters taking beatings, so what, as long as they learn and improve from it. That is better than wathcing nobody's offering nothing taking the same beatings. At least we can all invest and get onboard with local youngsters turning out.
Right now I don't think we have ever had a full quota of overseas players that have been so bad across the board for value for money. What was the point?

Your assuming we are going to be taking beatings like yesterday on a regular basis, this team has shown in patches it is capable of better than yesterday, they are also coming off the back of a 5 month break with hardly any training and some new rule changes which will play better for some teams.
We can all invest in young teams getting beaten - how long have you been on this forum they'll be deemed not good enough after 2 games.

They haven't though, that is the point. They have been absolutely awful all season so far, but for the Warrington game. Every team no matter how bad have at least one good game in them. We had against Warrington. We have been lucky other than that with the teams we have played, who have been so bad. We hit a good one at last again yesterday, and same result as first game of season.
We have two or three good players, and I think people are wrong to say not one of our players would get in the top team, because they would. But we have some truely horrendous ones too, which complete negate the quality ones, and as a result have an impact on the learning phase.
Controversially, I would sign just one prop and one winger and I think that’s it.
Maybe a 6 if Lui doesn’t work out and/or McLelland needs more time.
Agree with others there is absolutely no point signing warm bodies when we have youngsters sitting waiting for a chance.
Let’s put the cheque book away until and unless a player becomes available who will add something we don’t have now or the foreseeable future.
Christopher is right though - if Leeds get hammered every week with an under-developed side the fans will generally not tolerate it for long, I’ve seen it all before. It can be detrimental for development if taken too far as well. Confidence is a huge thing in this game and you’d ideally want to be playing alongside some inspirational others.
Having said that there were one or two other young players I would have thrown in against Saints.
We are also going to struggle with continuity, can see the team changing most weeks.
Rubbish. We haven't been awful at all, we had a shocker against Hull granted., but you cannot describe how we were going before lockdown as 'awful'
Christopher that is just not true, and you are clearly influenced by results rather than performance.
We have played six bloody games in total, six. I don't take into account Toronto as that was nothing more than a training exercise, against quite possibly the worst side ever, and we now know why with what as come out since.
Of the six games, we have been completely destroyed by a Hull side everyone else manages to beat or take to the wire, completely destroyed by a Saints side, and for the most part of a game destroyed by a poor Huddersfield side.
We were excellent in completely dominating a Warrington side. We got outplayed in big stretches in beating a Salford side, which on the day both sides were really poor. And we over ran a very poor Hull KR side, whom again everybody else manages to over run.
Not sure, other than results that don't tell the true story, you are somehow coming up with a story that we were anything other than awful, performance wise.

I totally disagree, we were not ‘awful’ at all, patchy yes, better than last year - definitely. Your definition of awful must be different to mine obviously so there’s no discussion to be had.

My definition is quite simple, quality wise both defence and attack. Were they any good? were they hell. Again the result shouldn't be the decider of that.

Yes they were good at certain points, an awful side would Not come from behind In two games to win nor nil Warrington nor have the best defence and attack going into lockdown.
As I say different definitions. You go with yours I’ll go with mine, deal?
