Welcome on board mate. Cas are annoyingly good and bad in lots of ways. Mostly us Cas fans just want to see rugby played in the correct way with a bit of class thrown in now and again. If we see players put the effort in then we'll follow them to the ends of the earth. I'm sure you'll enjoy the odd game watching Cas, but as i say, we can be frustrating at times. We going through a decent spell at the minute and who knows where it could end up. A good run in the play offs will be something special, the likes we haven't really seen for many a year.
I had a similar problem as you this season, which aussie team to follow. I'd always kept an eye out for West Tigers simply for the name, but at the beginning of this season i decided to watch lots of games and finally make my mind up who to support. Melbourne, i admired their rugby but being the top side and me being a Cas fan (used to the under dog etc) i just couldn't jump on their bandwagon. Good choice concidering what happened not long after. I like watching Manly and thought they were going to be up there this year, but still i didn't fancy them for some reason. Not many others took my fancy to be honest because i seemed to compare each aussie team to a similar SL side. I then watched about 3 or 4 West Tigers games on the bounced and each one was a nail biter. The games were entertaining and Wests either just pipped it or just lost it, all the time playing attacking rugby. They weren't the best, but seemed to have a right good go every time, and i just couldn't do anything else but compare them with Cas. Everything about them was just so similar to Cas. So i'm an armchair Wests fan.

Incidentally, an exclamation mark ends a sentence and does not require a full stop. The first letter of the next word begins a new sentence and should therefore be capitalised. Who needs flankers' grammar was actually correct.
"Castleford's biggest home crowd of the 1991-1992 season wasn't quite 12,000 while on average they'd sit around 6000 but the noise, the chanting and the singing just blows you away" - Tawera Nikau "Standing Tall"
"I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League"
If by support you mean going following a team in the media, I couldn't care less! but if by support you mean you have a few million quid to throw at a club - Then come on down! your most welcome - oh and by the way it's Black and Amber !

I could never really get my head round Wests Tigers as a concept. I'm not a fan of these 'joint venture' clubs. Look at the way the poor old North Sydney Bears got rooted over by merging with Manly. I used to admire the old Western Suburbs Magpies and all they stood for.... yet was never a big fan of their rivals the Balmain Tigers. If I had been a real dead set Maggies fan I personally would never have been able to become a Wests Tigers fan. I'm surprised Magpies fans took to them. I know a lot of English people go for Wests because of the Gareth Eliss connection... yet the same people were going for the Sydney Roosters when Adrian Moreley was playing there....and I'm sure Souths jumpers are a big seller here now just because of Sammy Burgess.
Welcome onboard the roller coaster that is Castleford Tigers BMac, there's never a dull moment as a Cas fan... if we're not turning it on with our expansive play (unfortunately, it usually only happens every other week), we're upsetting the load of old whatsit's that are the RFL, I think they really must hate us at Red Hall!
Your support is very welcome! I'm sure you will be given a big Cas welcome when you finally get to see a game at the aptly named Jungle, let the club know and I'm sure you will get a mention at half time.
As was mentioned earlier in this thread, the Leeds game would be a good one to attend, should be a big crowd and a great atmosphere, also hopefully another positive outcome for us, unless we suffer the same kind of ill fortune that cost us the game last year.
I have to admit that I have affinity with West Tigers down under simply because of the name, also of course a born and bred Cas lad, Gareth Ellis is now doing his stuff for them. I always took an interest in Cronulla though when Stu Raper was in charge and also Paul Mellor went back there to play.
