The saying 'bent as a 9 bob note' has now been dropped.....corrected phrase is 'bent as the RFL!'

Re: Rumours.. : Wed Jun 22, 2011 12:28 pm
I'd welcome Kear, Noble or Morgan in that order. Whilst we have all remained very patient with TM, I've never really rated him. We keep playing the same plays week after week, year after year. Put TM in charge of such as Wakey, in their current climate, I very much doubt he would have motivated or achieved the same as Kear has so far this year.

Rightly or wrongly I like to see a coach who shows his passion about our team. It rubs off on the team in terms of spirit, determination and conviction to each and every play they make. I've heard 101 excuses why TM is so in-animate in his approach to each of our games. It's not his style....it means nothing etc etc I've heard them all!!

However he could be seen leaping for joy when the Exiles got the late final score the other week. So what's the difference? Why did he show this passion for them, yet nothing for us?

I wouldn't bother reading this bit, there is nothing interesting, witty or insightful down here, just this collection of boring words explaining that you really are wasting your time browsing this signature in the vain and futile hope that there will be a nugget, nay, a veritable goldmine of witticisms or divine philosophy. In reality, all you're going to get is disappointment, a sense of hopelessness and a random word.

Kumquat.

Yeah that Wayne Bennett was well known for his passion, dancing up and down the touchline; terrible coach.

George Bush says 'we are losing the war on drugs'. Well you know what that implies? There's a war going on, and people on drugs are winning it! Well what does that tell you about drugs? Some smart, creative motherfookers on that side."

I have to disagree, TM does get passionate about Cas. I do think it's time for change though. Mainly for defensive reasons for me.

I can recall plenty of occasion where tm has jumped up and down when we have won so i dont where you get that from if he ever gets to coach a club that is spending full cap he will win a trophy or 2 imho. The fact that he has made us regular play off contenders with one of the smallest budgets in the league says alot about him as a coach.

As for kear, give him a team of no hopers and he will get them over achieve give him a big money team and he will underachieve as we fall somewhere in the middle who knows what he will bring to us but i can guarantee that if we had kear as coach we would be far less entertaining to watch.

It would be interesting if TM left Cas at the end of the year, yet decided that he wanted to stay in the game in the UK. Does anyone think he would get a coaching position elsewhere in SL?

Aren't you saying exactly the same about TM and JK, in terms of working with a small budget team??

Yet your comments about expected results with a big money team are into crystal ball territory in both cases? TM being given an un-proven benefit of doubt....where as JK being unfairly shot down?

Kear had the full cap to spend at hull and cc cup aside didnt do very well with what he had, and the reason he won that cc final for me is that his team were underdogs, when jk coaches a team that are favorites he does not have a good record.

As a bloke i have alot of time for kear but i dont want him to coach cas we would have boring rugby every week and i dont think he would do any better than tm in regards to where we finish, who no matter what you say about him has got us playing as classy cas again. Under kear i have no doubt our defense would improve but our attack would drop off dramitically.

Re: Rumours.. : Wed Jun 22, 2011 2:20 pm
As we all know, you can't put a top 3 team together in 1 year...Full salary cap or not!! Getting to a CC final is a result in its self in the 1st year. Hence saying that he would underachieve with a well resourced team seems a bit harsh, based on one season at Hull. Conversely saying that TM would do much better in the same circumstances is a bit optomistic, and un-substantiated. Aswell as the promotion that TM helped us acheive, he was also at the helm for a relegation. Something that JK has managed to avoid for Wakey.

So, with this in mind do we really know what JK's brand of rugby would be with a well resourced team in his 2nd or 3rd term in charge? Don't get me wrong, I like to see some flair out there on the pitch but it doesn't excite me quite as much as a weak defence annoys me!

He's a Cas lad, give him the same chance that we all want our local lads to be given on the field.

You talk about taking a few years for a coach to build a side, in 2006 tm had to work with a team that had been put together by others and despite that he got 19 points and 11th position place i dont think there are many coaches that could have done much better in the same situation.

As i said the idea that tm would do well with more resources is just my opinion.

One other thing that i think tm gives us over kear is bringing the kids through, i know kear has played alot of kids this year but only becuase he was forced to originally kear had planed to have 10 (or 11 i cant quite remember) overseas players in his team. Tm has brought through owen, westerman, boyle, clark, milner, arundel, walker, holmes and thompson and made much better players out of huby and shenton, and has players like eden, davies and massey coming through next. kear would fill our team with motu tonys and jeremy smiths and thats not what i want to see.

well everyone has there own opinion but i prefer to see a good attack than a good defence (and for the record although as i have said i think kear would improve our defence i dont think he would do so to a great extent, maybe 100-150 points a season while i think we would lose 200-300 points off our attack).

The fact that kear is a cas lad shouldnt come into it are you saying that tm would be a better coach if he came from cas?
