I would rather Brierly plays the remaining games this season whether we win or lose than continue to upset the entire balance of the team by playing people in makeshift positions, which adds no value in the longer term.
Sure, if we lose the remainder of our games, we will finish 10th and that'll hurt - but at least we will have gained something for the future.
Although 8th would be a great achievement, it is not the answer to our problems and would to some extent gloss over something we know already; we are running thin and need some players to be pushing for a spot but not yet in our first 17, and if this helps Brierly to start building a first team presence and confidence, so be it.
I hope he gets on and gets the kind of reception a local lad should who needs ENCOURAGING on the start of his journey..... I remember Tomkins and Robinson amongst others getting coated when they started out when they broke through young and even Danny Orr got some flack at our place, everyone starts somewhere and will make mistakes.
Not gonna happen - last game of the season is home to Celtic which I'd have strongly fancied us to win even before they had 6 of their best players faced with deportation.
If you'd have told me before the season began we'd get 26 points I'd have been more than happy but having spent most of the season in a play off place I'll inevitably be slightly disappointed if we fail.
I reckon 28 points will be enough to see us into the playoffs so a win against Wigan (unlikely) or away at Harlequins (more likely) will be needed. If we were to win all 3 I reckon that would give us a home draw in the 1st round of playoffs - not necessarily a good thing given our form at home this season!
