No need to feel sorry for them at all. The young Hull lads now have superb facilities at Bishop Burton and Sirius Academy in which to develop not only their playing skills but also life skills as well. As the years go by more and more home grown talent will step up into the ranks just like Chris Green, Josh Bowden, Dean Hadley, Ben Crooks and others have done recently. The cream will be given the best possible pathway through to the first team if they have the necessary skills and attitude. Those who don't make it will still have attained skills to take them into other walks of life. The Agar and Hetherington days at Hull of ignore the juniors are long gone. Big investment has been made precisely in that area of development. And it's likely lads like Tom Lineham from out of town will be attracted to these facilities as well - so there'll be a mix of locals and non-locals vying to become top level players.
All that said it's not just Hull that take players from the West Riding though is it ? What about Kirk Dixon, Danny Washbrook, Frankie Mariano to name but three ? It's a two way street.
Looking forward to Friday's game if we don't bring our A+ game then you'll take the two points no problem.
Looing forward to the game myself, plus I'm glad the days of not producing the Humberside youth might be a thing of the past, it's not just the Hull club, every club should be aiming to produce young talent from there area, if every club did what Leeds, Wigan St's & our selves do, in producing players we wouldn't be talking about reducing the SL to 12 clubs, 11 English, instead we would be talking about increasing the number to 16, giving us 14 English, or British, clubs, & perhaps adding a new French club ?, so I hope your youth system gets going & we see more Hull lads making a living in SL.
It is funny when you look at it, in your top 25 squad, how many players were born on Humberside? Horne, Yeaman, Houghton, Bowden & Kent, & then how many players have you poached or bought from players born in Wakey Cas & Fev, that little triangle, Lynch, Watts, Westerman Arundel, Crooks, Ellis, all Cas lads, Briscoe, Whiting, both Fev, then Pits from Waky, so yes it's very funny it's funny that Hull have more Cas lads in it's squad of 25 than it does lads from Hull.
I'm sorry it's not funny at all when you think about it, I feel sorry for the young Hull lads who cant get a start at the club, most of them support.
not our fault we offer better facilities and realistic chances of getting to finals!
you best get back to your pint of bitter and sour grapes

Total rubbish, our academy has been in a total mess under the old management, since Pearson and Gentle took over he has given debuts to Green, Crooks, Bowden, Cunningham, Shaul, Hadley and Kent. Some of these aren't quite ready yet, but the ones that are like Green, Crooks and Bowden have been getting a lot of game time. Finally we are seeing the rewards form our youth development. our 16's and 19's are looking good and there are a few players from there who should make the step up in the future.
You cant rely totally on youth though and need to sign players from other places to balance out your squad, if Cas and Rovers for example don't pay these pay what other clubs can, whose fault is that, we all are on the salary cap, it up to other teams to make sure that they fully use it and use it correctly (for example dont spend a massive amount of your cap on one star player).
It must be so easy financially when you don't have to worry about the upkeep of your own ground, that's probably why the soccer lodgers are a bit more financially stable. But I would sooner not sell our souls to survive.
Remember the gates hull sharks debacle ? Even wakey didn't stoop that low
Why do Hull want Jordan Thompson then ? Surely this fantastic youth set-up that Hull FC have now got would fill that gap ?
Did you not read my post?
Who mentioned fantastic youth set-up, all people have mentioned is it's improved massively for a really bad state under Kath Hetherington and gang.
We will be losing 2 very experienced forwards in Tickle and Galea, one will be replaced internally (by Hadley) and other by Thompson (if he signs). As I said you need a mix of young players that come through the academy and more experienced players (maybe signed from other teams).
Have Cas never signed a player from another team? Have you thought that it maybe Thompson that wants to leave? Maybe he needs a new challenge?
I think the Hull team being made up of players from outside the district is down to lack of investment in the youth squad 4/5 years ago rathwr than now.
If there were no good scholarships for 13/14 year olds then, then they wll have to invest in established players to make up their squad.
Their apparent "English" contingent is primarily Castleford based..... Our club should be proud of that.
Professionals in anything will take an offer of more money. I would and so would a rugby player.
The comment about "more chance of being in finals" is irrelevant (and also incorrect, as we have been nearer to a major final ourselves in the last three years than Hull have)
Could anyone suggest a good place to start a pub crawl before the game tomorrow please. We always have a beer in the Early Bath and The Bootroom but this season we plan to start in the town centre in the afternoon.
It's many years since any of us have been there so any suggestions would be very welcome.
Looking forward to our favourite away day (Win, lose or draw)!
