lol so Chase is "overseas" for SL purposes but "English"for international purposes ?
What a joke the rfl are.
Aye, does seem something of a contradiction, but then the majority of fans thought it was a joke that he was playing for England anyway.
By the same token, Gareth Widdop or Jack Reed would count as non-federation trained were they to join a SL club which would seem even more of a farce.
The biggest farce though is that the 'non-federation trained' rule was brought in by the RFL to reduce the number of overseas players running around in SL. After 4 years and in the 2nd year of clubs being restricted to having a maximum of 5 non-federation trained players (so theoretically a maximum of 5 non-British players), due to various exemptions, in 2012 this is how many non-British players each of the SL clubs will have:
London Broncos - 11
Hull Kr, Widnes - 10
Wigan - 9
Bradford, Salford, Hull, Saints - 7
Warrington, Cas - 5
Leeds, Huddersfield - 4
Catalans - touted as being the saviours of the French national side - have 11 Antipodeans and 1 Englishman in their squad.
