Obviously we are a little biased in thinking Rangi should get the award but i definitely think he deserved it instead of Tomkins.
If you look back at previous winners like Sculthorpe, Farrell, Vowles, Peacock etc they were all warriors who played the game hard and fair which for me is what the award is about.
I know Chase is a half-back but for me he demonstrates those qualities more than most in Super League - wouldn't have argued with Roby winning but others i've liked this season are Michael Monaghan, Thomas Leuluai & Danny Buderus.
I know in the last couple of years players like Richards and Hodgson have won it (not sure when the players started voting for it) but this is where the award fails a bit now for me as it's more of a best player of the year award, which seems to be going more towards flashy backs than the real hard men of the sport of previous years
