The Support on Sunday : Thu May 28, 2009 6:37 pm
There's nothing like the cup to get the emotions running high and we travel to Huddersfield as underdogs. They have beaten us once this season, they play on the back of a 50 point hammering of Wakey and seem to be at full strength. Meanwhile, we have lost our last 3 and we have, arguably, our two most influential players out injured. Cas are the cup underdog !

It seems we will have a big following at the Galpharm and we shouldn't underestimate the part we can play.

When we travel as supporters, we travel in expectation that the players will give us 100%, battle tenaciously for 80 minutes, underdog or no underdog, the team that wants it most will win. We owe it to our team, to give them everything we expect in return.

For 80 minutes we need to back them. If we go behind early, whether it 6 or 12, there's no point sitting down sulking, bemoaning our luck. We would be livid if the players sulked. We have to make the noise and they will need us most when we are under pressure, not just if we go 16 up.

We have to give them the support, the backing and passion ! Everyone of us sat in that stand wants a trip to Wembley. Do we want it more than their supporters ? We will be outnumbered, but the noise and passion we generate can make it the day of the cup underdog !

Has there even been an 80 minute Barmy Army Chant at any sporting event in the UK ?!?!

The support at the KC was great and that was a Friday night, my oppo wants to stay and watch it in a pub, tonight I made the momentos decison, much to the dislike of "er in doors" that myself and't yung un would be traveling by train (direct) nothing to do with the cost and the opportunity for a couple of pints!!

C mon ye ford!

I echo most of your words poker face, especially getting behind the lads with much vocal support, but I sincerely hope the barmy army chants don't last the 80minutes.
I really do wish we could show the nation what brilliant supporters we are and that we don't have to resort to foul and abusive language, as football supporters do, if only we had our own song, something like old faithful!

They used to put us in the stand on the touchline side, but for some reason that changed 3 or 4 years ago (probably when their attendances started to increase) and it's always been at the back of the sticks since then.

Me and some of the posters on t'other forum came up with a Shenny song the other week, sung to the tune of Lord of the Dance.

Shen-ton! He's our number three,
A great centre, and hes from Ponty,
He beats them all, from St Helens to FC,
And he makes Senior look a right numpty!

Anyone fancy getting it going on Sunday? :D

away fans have never been "put" anywhere at the galpharm, most used to just go in the kilner bank/john smiths/antich stand
but after a few unsavoury incidents with leeds and hull fans mainly, it was decided to offer away supporters the south stand, but away fans are still welcome to join the giants fans in the side stands
