You can if you over achieve (as we did last year.)
There is a gulf below 7th, and 8th is achievable for a number of teams.
That said a Powell war cry will not make you "a number of teams" if he is not backed by the club , which seems to have been the main problem.
Otherwise its just a short term rallying cry for the want away supporters to return until the reality dawn's and then its back to square one.

well, what else can he say really.
"yeah I mean, we are playing poorly, we shall continue to play poorly for the forseeable future, and the signs are we will remain poor after that"
I think it's bull bab myself but, if we can maybe win 6 of our remaining games, it'll be seen as a little success in half a season
