Born in Cas, grew up in Selby and from the age of 9, played all of his amateur rugby in Castleford (Half Acres aged 9-13 and Castleford Lock Lane aged 15-18).

reminds me of the late 70's early 80's when we stripped Fev and Cas of all their good players and became the top side in RL

They'd already come more unstuck 2 years earlier against rank outsiders Fev ...now that was payback and the only time I've rejoiced in a cappers victory. A year after the 85 classic the other codheads were turned over by underdogs Cas led by John Joyner, the one player FC had failed to steal from us. Nowadays, to coin their song, they might have Adam Pearson but (as history suggests) they still wont always get who/what they want.
