Interesting to see that Millward wasn't man enough to speak yesterday after the match. The first Castleford coach not to do so after the last home game. Thought he might have apologised to the fans for serving up so much rubbish this season. He has run out of excuses. No money, no players, injuries, rebuilding. m Wakefield have not done too badly under their circumstances.

You seem to be forgetting that wakefield brought in lots of new players that the coach picked were as millward had a few pounds to bring in players and the ones at cas dont want to play by his rules. It was pretty obvious yesterday as I stood and watched the cas players stood behind the sticks arguing with each other that this is not a team just 13 players out there at the moment. Cause wakey are gonna do better they have bought lots more quality players than us this season.

Proven SL quality throughout last night's 17 and IIRC without the likes of Southern/Mellars/Aiton/John/Tony/Johnson. Mind you not much in the way of homegrown products to be seen.

In general terms, you're right that we haven't done as well as we ought to in terms of bringing our young players through; there are some historical reasons for that though, that I think have been addressed through this season - look out next year for Lucas Walshaw, Danny Cowling, Russ Spiers and several other WTW products who should feature more regularly.

The next trick of course will be to hold on to some of these lads - we have a history of being virtually powerless to stop richer clubs pillaging our academy, and that needs to stop.

Don't under sell it Bren. We had 3 overseas players playing (Same as Cas). The rest are British. And likely to be only two next week. That is a massive leap forward for us.
Playing your developed youth doesn't seem to be helping you (Cas) either.

I'm often a supporter of Cas as long as its not against us and they don't finish higher than us, but don't bring us into your misery. Not doing great at the moment ok, don't blame us. We had nothing at the start of the season and we had to gel a completely new team. We are happy with how that is gone but don't protest that you had it harder because you hada settled team but added a new coach.

I was disappointed but then I think it's fair comment when someone said that yesterday was - rightfully - about Danny Orr. Why risk souring that by letting fans boo - let's face it, people have said they would be 'man enough' to do that - Millward?

I was equally disappointed that none of the speaking players had the guts to turn around and apologise for their shocking performances.

For the 1st season I can remember I didn't hang around for the speeches. Yesterday was all about Danny Orr so I went to the game and applauded the players on their lap of honour but thats as far as it goes.

Once again Danny showed up the rest of the players by showing total commitment and looking head and shoulders above just about everyone else in a Cas shirt. It's a great pity that the other senior players in the side weren't prepared to 'sign off' their Cas careers with similar commitment.

I've read comments on here previously this season along the lines of you can understand players not being committed to Cas cos they're either retiring at the end of the season or not having their contracts renewed. That's absolute Bull - those players have been paid to play this season and the fact they haven't says more about their lack of professionalism than anything else.

Ideally we could do with a wholesale clearout of players but I guess we don't have the finances for that.

A cheaper alternative might be to get a new coach who can motivate the players. Lets not forget that Matterson got largely the same squad of players to the top of the table in the 1st half of last season until a raft of injuries to our forwards left us without a pack.
