For the 1st season I can remember I didn't hang around for the speeches. Yesterday was all about Danny Orr so I went to the game and applauded the players on their lap of honour but thats as far as it goes.
Once again Danny showed up the rest of the players by showing total commitment and looking head and shoulders above just about everyone else in a Cas shirt. It's a great pity that the other senior players in the side weren't prepared to 'sign off' their Cas careers with similar commitment.
I've read comments on here previously this season along the lines of you can understand players not being committed to Cas cos they're either retiring at the end of the season or not having their contracts renewed. That's absolute Bull - those players have been paid to play
this season and the fact they haven't says more about their lack of professionalism than anything else.
Ideally we could do with a wholesale clearout of players but I guess we don't have the finances for that.
A cheaper alternative might be to get a new coach who can motivate the players. Lets not forget that Matterson got largely the same squad of players to the top of the table in the 1st half of last season until a raft of injuries to our forwards left us without a pack.
