Neil's Notes/Club 1873/Away Travel : Wed Sep 22, 2021 6:14 am
Despite 3 losses in our final 3 regular season games we have held on to that 3rd spot which gives us a home draw against 6th place in the first round eliminator.Sunday's game was always going to be a close affair but with all the early pressure we could not change that into points with defence on both sides making it a tight game with the result going right to the end.
The MOM went to Conor McGrath who as well as a try to his name was first class under the high ball and ran strongly out of defence with Brandon Moore picking up the Hitman award.
It was good to see a good attendance of 2216 with the half time draw winning number 8080 picking up a healthy £226.
In the final 2021 draw in Club 1873 for the main prize of a 2022 season ticket the winning number was 100, Dave Haggerty. Bonus winners for 2 numbers for the price of 1 when renewing for 2022 went to 17, Anne Smith, 26 Hugh Moran, 27 Ian Beaumont, 77 Peter Clayton, 90 Jean Fleming and 111 Pete McNamara. Well done to all winners for the season and thanks to everybody for all your continued support..
Next Saturday sees the first round of the eliminator play offs with a home game against Whitehaven who pipped London into 6th place. Ko is 5.30pm here at the Shay with Batley now securing a home tie against Bradford Ko 3.15pm. Whitehaven are definitely the form team at the moment having beaten ourselves, Batley and Bradford in their last 3 games and should see a very competitive game. The semi finals are on the following Saturday with the winners in each elimination game away to Toulouse 3.15pm and Featherstone 5.30pm . A Fax win will see us visit Featherstone
Watch out for details of voting for the 2021 supporters player of the season.
Finally a thank you to the Supporters Trust for their presentation at half time on my retirement from organizing the supporters away travel for the last 22 years.
