Are we now saying our BoD are deliberate cheapskates and our coach is a monkey ability wise?

I've just read that the referee for the Dewsbury game was 20 years old. Surely that can't be right. I know there's a shortage of match officials but if true this is another indication of where the RFL place the Championship in their list of priorities.

I haven't seen the fellow in question referee a game yet but he's actually one of the ten full-time officials, is therefore eligible to take SL games so it's definitely not a reflection on the Championship.

Three of the remaining nine full-time referees are 25 years old or under, there is definitely a youthful look to the new intake.

There has been a huge number of referees lost to the game in the last few years. Phil Bentham, Richard Silverwood, Tim Roby Joe Cobb, Chris Campbell, George Stokes, Matt Thomason, Thierry Alibert, and tragically the late Chris Leatherbarrow, are all no longer officiating for one reason or another and there maye be others I have forgotten. We don't know what's gpoing to happen with Ben Thaler either.

In general I think we all need to try and be more supportive of referees, it's a thankless job and we don't have a game without them.

Yep thankless job.
Personally I try and keep a lid on my frustrations when the game is going on with mixed results.
During the Dewsbury game there were a few calls from the ref that got the rev counter moving into the amber but were far outweighed from our own discipline especially on the last tackle that got nearer to red.
Discipline has been a problem for Fax for a long time now whoever the officials are so the negative penalty count can’t just be down to them.

The thing is its irellevant how old the ref was on Tuesday. Our discipline was appaling but luckily Simon Grix came out and said the same........oh wait....

For me I think yelling at the ref during the game is part of the atmosphere and as long as it's not abusive I think most refs would accept it.

I can't be doing with people creating conspiracy theories after the game is over or saying the ref was bent though, to me that's like going to a pantomime and then giving the "villain" grief in the car park afterwards.

There are a fair number of Fev fans who think we get the rough end of the stick from refs but when we brought former ref Dave Merrick in last year to advise our players about offences etc our penalty count went down drastically.

Absolutely, but 20 years old is pushing it a bit.

Exactly and it’s amazing how they are only villains when our team loses.
Bringing a former ref in for advice, now there is a thought, everyone would think about adding to the coaching staff even for temporary advice but not many would think about looking to a ref to do the same, most just have an after the game or later in the week one off chat with that department to air their grievances.

Definitely a candidate for suggestion of the season.
Are you listening Fax.

I wonder what happened to Ben “Calm Down Calm Down” Thaler recently?
One of the better ones imho.
