Whilst I think we will improve I am still honestly reeling from the fact that the club did not take on Sammut when he expressed a clear interest in joining us (and I believe the money was there largely driven by Fax1). Othes have recruited well in those KEY areas and while I realise one many does not make a team - Sunday would have been a whole lot closer with him playing in blue and white. Opportunity MISSED in my opinion.

I understand that RM thought the money could be better spent elsewhere as the club are struggling for funds since both Posner and Harvey are not putting large amounts of money into the club to sponsor players

Interesting then that this season will be our biggest spend on players since we fell in to this division.

I could have written that word for word. The frustrating thing about it is that almost everyone is in agreement with it, barring the coach.

Yep. It would be no surprise at all if Leigh won this game. Apart from 20 minutes against Widnes we have looked way off the pace in pre-season and that game. We improved the squad in the wrong areas in my opinion and yeah its great having a pack that can dominate its opponents but without the halves and backs to make use of it then its a waste. Butler one of the best players in the division last year will get moved out to centre, why not save the money spent on more second rowers and bring in players in the positions that it is obvious to everyone what is needed the most.

Obviously, I didn't see your game last week, but your pessimism about Sunday, surprises me. Our performance against Toulouse surprised us, especially after the way they humiliated our much-vaunted squad in the corresponding fixture last season.

However, we can't rally base our hopes on that one game - more's the pity. You are a good team, with a good coach and, crucially, are at home. It would be a far bigger shock this week, if we were to turn you over. Of course, I hope for a Leigh win, but failing that, would settle for as enjoyable a game as the one we witnessed last week.

For me Alan, a few Fax fans are playing Ducks and Drakes here, why not humour them.We all heard about the good squad they were assembling, and how we didn’t even have a squad till the 11th hour which was true.
I’m expecting a Fax win by around 8points,but then again I thought Wigan would beat a Sheff in the Cup Final.Yer never know.

The facts are though Ian, the last time Fax had any decent results was back in July 2018 and although our squad may look good on paper some key parts of the engine are either in the wrong place or still can’t be used, up to now the Fax machine has been misfiring and clonking along.

Quack quack quack.

Of course I'm hoping for a Fax win but I'm uneasy about it based on the above precisely because of how big a season it could be for us.

Why is 2019 a big season ? Any more than any other season, like ? :?

It’s the vibes coming from within the club.
Some of the reasons include.
Length of time RM has been here.
Linked to that is what Fax set out to achieve under his control.
The feeling that we are getting as far as we can as a part time club.
As a result having the biggest spend on recruitment than any other season under RM.
Because of that a big push for a top 4/5 Finnish and the hope of doing a London with full time and SL as the result.
The realization that any club, coach and group of players only has so long to make steady progress and achieve their ambitions before it starts to go in the opposite direction.
In 2019, Fax, RM and the players are getting close to that point before the change comes and we start all over again.
