Not disagreeing with you fax4life, its not the best system. And yes the table is still very close and as i mentioned it still looks a competitive league. It would be better for us being 3 points clear and not level on points.
Does anyone know why it was changed, What was wrong with the old system?

I was watching speedway last night and their points system is more rewarding for the away team. I cant remember exactly what it was but it was something to do with the away team gets a bp for finishing within 7 points of the home team, but the home team didn't get anything for loosing within 7 points. Can see how thiss would help to reduce the "home advantage" and also keep a game going when it would perhaps have been over. Not saying I agree with this system just thought Id throw the idea out there...

The Speedway scoring is as below. It favours the away team with regard to points earned. Not sure it would go down well in RL. Don't know how the table would look using this system.

NEW LEAGUE SCORING SYSTEM
Home loss by any amount of points = 0
Home draw = 1
Home win by between 1 and 6 points = 2
Home win by 7 points or more = 3
Away loss by 7 points or more = 0
Away loss by 6 points or less = 1
Away draw = 2
Away win by between 1 and 6 points = 3
Away win by 7 points or more = 4

I do agree that all levels of our sport should be playing under the same rules, either everybody adapt to the bonus point system or kick it into touch. The rugby league will be kicking themselves, without the bonus point toulouse would be in the top six, it still looks like a competitive league.

The day will come when someone finishes top having lost more games than those in second, but wins on bonus points

So now we have a new system proposed, where you get 3 for a win, two for a draw, nothing for a defeat.

We're top no matter what, you goon. If we were second and could be top had it not been for bonus points then yes, your trolling point would be valid. My original post questioned the wisdom of rewarding losers.

At the end of the day sheffield have provided very good value for money this year with virtually everyone of their games being competitive

The rules are the same for everybody [ well these rules are ] and are set at the start of the season , they have played the rules well
