I wasn't too carried away last night at Widnes..... : Sat Aug 01, 2009 12:24 pm
Without knowing the full facts 'cos I was sat a little further away from the events, but when our lad who travels from Oxford got into a bit of a shouting match with the stewards I found it all a little embarassing for all concerned.
If the problem was about being told to remain seated, then what was his and the others' around that area's problems ?
Maybe I got the wrong message as to what was going on, it was only what we were told, but it all got a bit petty & childish. If you aren't permitted to remain standing in an all-seater stadium, what then is the procedure ? Is it a matter for the police or stewards to remove the offenders from the stadium ? Surely it's not just a case of shouting at each other
I do feel, as other fans are beginning to voice their opinions that we're going to get something of a reputation, not one that is the right image for the club or it's supporters.
I thought it was a good craic last night with the Widnes fans who were sat with us and from what they were saying it was a far better atmosphere than normal, they had their drummer boy back for the first time at their ground after recently banning the drumming, after we mentioned about having to put up with the damned racket every week !! But just watching the episode unfold to the left was just another thing that is beginning to worry one or two folks.
