think the commentators on the game gave up trying to understand the ball stealing decisions too.

It's a stupid rule. Get rid of it. The player with the ball should have the responsibilty of holding onto it and if it's stolen before the tackle is completed, tough.

Whilst we're on about rules (sort of) can we please have proper ruddy scrums with both hookers striking for the ball. That would tie in the forwards and give the backs more space. And touch judges that actually keep up with play and rule properly on forward passes! And get rid of the "on report" nonsense - if its foul play have the balls to put him in hte bin.
:DEPRESSED:

Sorry

FAILURE ISN'T ABOUT FALLING DOWN, FAILURE IS STAYING DOWN..........

: Sat May 23, 2009 7:20 am
He did have a decent enough game on Thurs and I enjoyed his humour with some of the players throughout the game via the mic, better than you get from most of the robots nowadays !

In all fairness, there isn't that much to referee nowadays, it's just the pace of the game that's a worry with it being so quick. The live broadcasts with a video ref assisting should be a piece of cake to referee. There's not much biff to sort out nowadays and kickers don't get hammered off the ball and all those things that have rightly been cleaned up over the last few years.

I would credit Hick's fitness levels after this game, if you watched the game on tv, you would have noticed he was still running fresh and plenty of chat towards the end of the 80 mins.

It's quite clearly a plan to stop us blowing teams to bits by stopping us getting on a role if the refs blowing up every 30 seconds

Why wouldn't teams want to slow us down ?
Teams are beginning to work us out, stopping us is a different matter. For example, who would expect Matt James to put some footwork on and get on the outside shoulder of the defender like he did at Donny the other night ? Try defending that ! Calland and his team are coming up with some great rugby most of the time with an excellent gropu of players to execute and you have to be fitter than your opposition to maintain the high energy style of play.
The refs will only blow up for infringements, I note we won the penalty count something like 10-6 against Sheffield BTW.

You're totally right, I just find it really frustrating to watch.
