I know that we at fax receive some funding and have ties with Leeds Met.
This morning the Yorkshire Post announce that they are pulling out of subsidising the Rah Rah boys at Headingley who have made massive losses due to lack of interest.
I have long wondered where all the various sponsorship brass came from for Yorkshire Cricket, The Leeds Union team, Challenge Cup etc, etc, etc.
Seems there has been massive overspending and the top dogs are either leaving or being sacked. Staff are being made redundant.They would seem to have been behaving like a load of bankers!!
Wonder how this will effect our small but no doubt significant and important link?

Ive always wondered how a university can sponsor so many things. Surely it must cost a fortune?

I have heard they are on their @rse are Carnegie. Just built seven new buildings too..

This is public money as well, Universties are getting too big and are probably bigger wasters of our money than Councils!

Myself and Howard Posner asked these questions a couple of yrs ago.

I mean it must all be taxpayers money? So how did they have the right
to use it to sponsor stuff?

Because for every student they get in they get more money and so by advertising so intensley they have lifted their profile.

Something along them lines I'm sure.

At least Councils are answereable to local people and through the Council tax they have to keep control of their spending unlike Universities who answer to nobody, they are out of control imo
