Got some pheasant from a mate at work. Just prepared them this morning and wondering what to do with them.. Any personal recommendations?
I don't even bother drawing or plucking pheasant. Just get your finger in the crop, rip it down, cut off the breasts and throw the rest in the bin. Pan-fry the breasts in butter & olive oil with some shallots and black cherries (if available). Glass of wine to deglaze, reduce and pour over pheasant breasts

I basically stood on the wings and pulled it's feet up which did the job pretty well! Whacked the bones and legs etc in a big pay with onions, carrots and stuff. It's turned into a pretty nice pot of soup.
The breast I will pan fry with butter probably, then have with some roasted veg and crushed new potatoes. The pot roasted option looks good though. Maybe next time, if there is one, I think my mate said pheasant season has just about ended now?
Amazing how much meat you get out of them actually! I've never done anything like this before, having the full animal and prepping it all myself. pretty chuffed!!
I got called a horrible vile man for being 'cruel'. If you don't want to know where meat comes from, you shouldn't be eating it
If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.
Yeah, pheasant season finished last weekend. It's a bit criminal really, if you're in a shooting area you can pick them up for a bout a quid each, they have big piles of them, a lot must go to waste.
If you've never really cooked with them before the pot roast option is safest, least chance of them drying out.

can you eat too many black grapes??? i eat about 2kg a week. (of course i eat other foods aswell)
TIA to any knowledgeable people.
No idea about black grapes in particular ... but I'd mention that any food eaten to excess isn't great. I used to always have a bag of dried fruit and nuts in the car and for some years I'd happily scoff away on them on frequent long journeys.
I got kidney stones ... and then I read that nuts are very high in oxalate, which is what can cause the calcium to crystallise in your kidneys.
