I think a GE would just be dominated by Brexit to the detriment of everything else. It's like a fart in a lift. It expands to fill all available space.
What is needed is for Parliament to arrive at a compromise on Monday. If they can't it should be No deal vs Remain in a final referendum.
I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't want the gig but, you should put yourself forward for PM.
At least going with your idea, this would be sorted one way or another, although, because of the time that it would take to organise referendum mark 2, we would have to field candidates in the forthcoming EU elections.
