.....................being deported after 13 years service in the British Army.
You may have heard/seen/read the story regarding Isimeli Baleiwai, a Fijian born ex-British Army squaddie who because of a military misdomeanour that happens most saturday night up an down the land has been branded a "criminal" and therefore not fit to be a UK national nor be given leave to remain in the UK as a Fijian national.
The UKBA are seeking to deport him to Fiji leaving behind his UK born wife and kids.
After 13 years service in this country's uniform many thousands believe he has earnt his right to live in the UK either as a UK national or with right to remain status.
I'm sure he and his family would welcome your support.

Hands up all those who thought this was either about Dark Knight Rises or the Spurs winger...
As for the topic itself, well I gues it depends on what he's done. If its relatively minor then I think we have a responsibility to let him stay here if he wants to. If its serious then simply serving in the army shouldn't be a reason to let him stay.

the law is the law, if UKBA says he should go, he should go, serving in the armed forces is a choice and doesn't raise any individual above the law.

There should be a degree of flexibility in these laws, its mad that a misdemeanour, carried out in the military while serving should deny this bloke his life with his UK born wife and kids, while we are powerless to prevent the dregs of the criminal world from former eastern block, now EU from coming here and committing all sorts of crimes from murder, human trafficking to drug dealing. I know who I would rather have.

And the law is an ass. So said Mr Bumble.
Discharged Commonwealth soldiers are easy pickings for the UKBA and of course it is nowt to do with the UKBA's deportation quotas so the suits can get their bonuses that these men are being targetted, is it??
Also this is a clear breach of the Military Covenant which Camoron and the rest of his public school chums have made many protestations about defending.
