Bradford - 13th June : Mon Jun 01, 2009 8:14 pm
For anyone who may not have got the email

Just wanted to send out a reminder about the next Open-age Tag Rugby League Festival – which is at Odsal Stadium, Bradford, on Saturday 13th June.

It would be great to get as many teams to this as possible, as the day will no doubt be a great spectacle of Tag Rugby League - so please let me know if you would like enter a team or need more information about the day.

Following on from the festival we will be looking to run a weekly League on Monday nights at Odsal, starting 22nd June – this is open to absolutely everyone so please get in touch for more information on that. (flyer attached)

Please forward this email to anyone who you think may be interested in either or both of these events!!

Many Thanks,

Tom

Hope to see you all there.

What happened to the arranged fixture between us and yourselves? Surely a TML fixture should take prioritory over a meaningless tournament?

EDIT: 'Festival'

First off our ground is not available, and secondly the referee's we use will either be at the Bradford festival, or involved with the Touch competition that is taking place at Belle Vue prior to the game.

And (IMO anyhows) if taking part in the Bradford festival will help to more people playing tag and could lead to another team in the league then it is better for us all.

Could have always reversed the fixture. I'm sure we could have organised somewhere, I may be wrong however.

How is it better for us all if teams we have now cannot complete arranged fixtures? This is the 3rd game for us that has been called off for us, and that isn't acceptable. If teams cannot raise a team, or failed to check the availability of pitches or referees before arranging fixtures, then maybe they should take more consideration into the organisation.

The main point that all teams agreed to at the start of the league was to do everything possible to help Tag Rugby grow. If by joining in with their Tag Festival and getting the chance to talk to people about the plus sides of Tag we get more people playing, then we are our role :)

We have check before arranging fixtures about availability for grounds and referee's, but sometimes things come up quite quickly that means this can change. For example on Monday the Wakefield Touch Cup was announced, and the person who was asked about doing our game was now taken up with that competition. Then include the Bradford festival being announced to us on Monday as well other options for referees had gone out of the window.

As I said previously, it could have been payed in Hull if pitches and referees were a problem. I don't know what you discussed with Coach, but it seems a pretty obvious decision to make if you were willing to fulfil your agreement to playing us in the arranged fixture for the TML.

I've read things about you not agreeing to certain rules etc. We played in possibly the most restrictive form of tag rugby against Halifax where the rules were implemented, and if they were a reason for the cancelation of the game, I'm sure both teams could have come to an agreement on the day of the rules that were to be played.

It seems that Wakefield, rightly, want to play to the rules exactly how they are written and it be a non-contact sport. Can I remind you of the game last year that the FC Irregulars played against your club, where a member of our team was, quite literally, wiped out by a wreckless tackle by a player of Wakefield. I assume this will have been erradicated from your game after the rules have come into force?

Guys perhaps the discussion of rules and the following of them needs to be discussed with your team manager/organiser/captains

They can then take those views forward when they meet, discussing them on this board is not the best for either side of the argument.
