I have always rated Smith and I wonder why they are releasing him. Franchise in the bag or not they are in the same league as us next season.
There is another thread about pay cuts and I suppose that is what all Championship clubs will be doing next season.
Maybe he thinks he will get more money at another club ?

We should not be signing players like Smith. He may not be as good next season and he is at the end of his career. We need good young players.

He's 28, I'd hardly call that the end of his career and I can't see McConnell being retained at the end of the season anyway
